Hey all, newbie here. I just got a Slingbox Pro with the Hd connector. This is all connected to a Comcast HD box via Slinglink. I am slinging from the east coast to the west coast and basically my quality is no better then my friend who has a regular slingbox. Why is this? My quality is awesome when i set to a 640 x 480 but is refuses to stream without constant awful hiccups (basically it works for 3 seconds then stop for about a min). Even when I hardline in my cable modem (time warner cable modem) i get varying kbps of anything b/w 100 and 500. My wireless (apple airport, the big one) gets me about 300+ What is the deal? I mean, is there a way to get more kbps out of a cable modem? Are there config settings that someone can point me to that allow me to boost this? Will I ever get the kbps to stabilize or get an clear good quality stream? I don't think it is anything with my slingbox because at lesser settings it works fine, it is just useless to watch, and forget about sports its like watching colored blocks move around. Oh yeah, i am on a MacBook Pro. Thanks in advance!

You're speed when on the internet is dependent on the upload speed of your internet connection at home and the download speed of the internet connection at the remote location.  Many ISP's have very fast download speeds but limit the upload speed.  Your connection may be limited to under 700 for uploads, unlike you're internal home network.

Thanks Kaervin, That makes sense. The only thing i don't get is i have a Comcast Cable Modem doing the uploading, and a Time Warner Cable modem doing the downloading. They should be able to handle about the same right? Even so, why would i be getting 700+ kbps for about a min when it starts up and then does shortly after. Is that because the upload cannot keep up with the download and the first min or so is sot of "cashed" in there for while it is trying to start up?

Dazed & Confused - we are in the same boat, wish i could answer your questions. I am incredibly frustrated that i cant get this thing to work. I hear about people downloading an older piece of firmwear, but i have no idea where those are, and the older firmwear that is loaded onto my slingbox will not work with my slingbox pro. There must be a way for fix this.

Thanks in advance for everyones help.

on a side note, does anyone who works at slingbox actually look at these?
