I like my slingbox for many reasons, I don't use it outside of home I just use it like a TV card mostly. One thing I don't like is the slingplayer software. I use a Bluetooth mouse and watch television on my 42 inch computer monitor, usually while in bed.

I HATE how the bars pop up on the top and bottom of the screen every time i shift position in bed.

I also watch internet TV in Winamp, I love how in Winamp i can just double click the picture and it locks in fullscreen, if i want to change anything i double-click the mouse and it removes fullscreen.

Also controlling the volume with the mouse wheel, while in fullscreen mode, without having to put those stupid bars at the top and bottom would be great.

On that note... if i could switch between control mode and optimization mode without losing fullscreen, like maybe by right clicking the mouse while in fullscreen mode. I don't want to take my keyboard to bed just so I can hit alt-c.

anyone else feel the same way? will sling player 2 have any of these features?

Is that the only monitor on that PC?  If it's a 2nd, is it cloned or extended?  My TV is extended and as long as my cursor is on my main monitor I don't have the problem of the bars popping up.  I agree it would be nice to be able to lock it but there should be a way around it.

So has anyone found an alternative to the sling player software? Seriously, I am SICK AND TIRED of losing full screen when I move my mouse. I can't believe I am the only person that is completely disgusted at this stupid feature of the sling player software.

Sling player 2 is taking forever to be released, and I'm pretty sure that they won't fix this even then.

PLEASE listen to me! this will make your product 1000% more valuable.

1. moving the mouse SHOULD NOT make you lose fullscreen. I'm talking about the menu bars and controls that pop up every time you move the mouse.

2. while in fullscreen the mouse wheel controls the volume. and pushing down on the mouse wheel (mouse button 3) switches from control mode and optimized mode.

read again^^ please

not everyone is using the slingbox to watch things on the road, I use it to watch television on my home computer because a slingbox is cheaper than a TV.

I've been so annoyed by this slingplayer software though, I'm about to throw it away and just go buy a TV.

Try to use a pc remote control instead the mouse.

I use a serial port realmagic remote control and the pc remote control software. http://www.pcremotecontrol.com/software/pcrcsoft.htm

Available actions:

* Keyboard press simulation, single or combined
* Mouse cursor movement and clicks
* Volume control
* Application launch
* Sending messages to applications via PostMessage
* Shutdown of PC, window appearance control, on screen display.

Hope it helps.

One thing you can do with SlingPlayer is, while in windowed mode, click the video screen once. This removes the borders and gives you a video only view.

Grab the bottom right corner and expand the window size to fill the screen. Close the remote control, and you'll be full screen without the remote and favorites bar popping up every time you move the mouse.

A "lock fullscreen" mode would be a very cool addition, though. Hopefully the Sling folks will see that suggestion and make it happen.

Could try this,

Just turn off remote, Right click and select "show remote control" to off, when in full screen.

hey...let me apologize because I don't have an answer for your query, but something you said was of interest to me.

 I'm using a 24 inch monitor and my picture is just barely watchable from a graininess standpoint.  I've been assured that my internet speeds are more than adequate, my monitor is a brand new hp w2408h that looked good in the store (using HDMI connection) and I stream at 1500 kbps most of the time, although it dips down more that I would like it to.  My host cablebox is high definition.

 If you are using a 42 inch monitor, is it a good enough picture that would allow you to watch, for instance, a hockey game and be able to see the puck? The people at Sling say yes, but I guess I have a different idea of what a clear picture is.

 Thanks.

I have a SANYO 42" LCD that I have hooked up as a computer monitor. I am streaming over my LAN wia a 802.11b connection over 1.3 miles. I regulary stream between 2.5 and 3.4 M. The picture is close to what I would have at the local location.
