I was wondering if with a sling box you can just watch shows from your DVR when connected to the Internet or if you can save the shows to your computer so you can watch them later without being connected to the Internet

Sorry, you can't store the shows. It only lets you stream them. Probably a decision made for legal reasons.

Actually, you can purchase a product called At Large Recorder 2.0 and record the Slingbox streams to your computer. I've done it.

Easier way to do what you want though is to get a ReplayTV or a Tivo with Tivo to go (assuming you are in the USA). Then you can pull shows off the DVR right onto the computer. I do that all the time as well.

Slinging with a SlingCatcher, a ProHD, a Pro, a Solo, an AV, and a Slingbox Classic. 3 Replay TV units, a Roku Photobridge and a Roku M2000 Soundbridge, an AppleTV, a Vudu, and digital cable. www.na9d.net
