I am certain this has been covered here... but searches both here and on Google have not netted me anything...

Is there a type of "DVR" software for my PC that I can use to have the PC mimic a DVR with SlingplayerPC?

Thought I'd ask. :)

Thanks,

Pete

The most mature product is the At-Large Recorder available from

     www.applian.com

A free trial is available - and Applian has fairly good customer support.

There is also a free product called SLR or Slinger which can be found by doing a search on these forums.  My major concerns are its increases complexity compared to the At-Large Recorder and the fact that you can only schedule recording at a time.  Others have reported that these limitations are not problems, but they are to me.

I am going to play with SLR.

I have another question, please...

Is SlingPlayer 2.0 going to have the features I'm after (pause, record, etc.)?

Though SlingMedia has not posted any details, the current gossip is that it will not.  Its capabilities will be limited to recording small snippets - not recording entire shows.  What actually ships remains to be seen.

Thanks Floyd...

I am playing with "Slinger" (SLR)... Have you played with it?

A bit, but almost always use the At-Large Recorder for real work.  I am currently traveling and will not be able to download the latest version of SLR until I return home.

The program's author has posted on these forums.  You should be able to contact him here or via the download page.

Thanks Floyd... Seems pretty good, but I don't totally understand how it works -- I can get it to work, but the video quality stinks...

We'll have to see... I'm also working with At-Large to get the $29 deal... We'll see on that one too. :D

At Large works quite well...

Slinging with a Slingbox Pro, a Slingbox Solo and a Slingbox Classic. 3 Replay TV units, a Roku HD1000 Photobridge and a Roku M2000 Soundbridge, an AppleTV, a Vudu, and digital cable. www.na9d.net
