I watch my Slingbox on my Verizon xv6700 via both EVDO and wi-fi all the time with no problems. You might try using it in various locations, because I do find some spots where I have what appears to be a good signal (lots of bars) where I can't keep Slingplayer connected. Conversely, there are places where I have what appears to be a weak, slow signal (such as on the Washington DC metro) where I *shouldn't* be able to sling and I have no problems.
You might search around on pdaphonehome.com or howardforums for specific help. I've seen plenty of people with 6800's slinging with no problem on those sites.
Also you may want to try a differnt Port, Verizon my have blocked a port for you :)
i have been in various place nation wide and still same problem, works great on my wifi at home doesnt work on my verizon service. i dont know if there is are certain setting i need to do on my router to fix the block if someone could help that has a xv6800 on verizon that it is working on maybe i can compare.
Have you been able to connect to your Slingbox remotely *at all*? Connecting via your LAN (WiFi) is your local connection. It really sounds like your router hasn't been configured to forward the port to the Slingbox to allow remote connections.

This is kind of an old thread, but I figure I'd post just in case other Verizon users come a'looking.
I've got an XV6800 on the so-called Verizon unlimited data plan and have had no problems viewing my Slingbox. The biggest issue I had was configuring the Slingbox properly and ultimately I came to the realization that it was really just my own fault.
As part of the Slingbox configuration it asks you what router you have and asks you to modify your router settings. This is a mandatory step in order to allow the Slingbox's communication ports out to the internet (what MegaZone says above). Once I bothered to follow those instructions, it was smooth sailing from there on out.
Verizon does not block any ports used by the Slingbox based on my own experience but excessive use is a good way to get your data plan throttled to low transfer rates or ultimately cancelled.
I've got a xv6800 and can connect solidly with wifi ith slingbox mobile for hours if I so choose. My problem is with cellular connectivity. I am in one place, have 4 bars with an EV (3G) connection and it drops EVERYTIME in about 90 secs. Does anyone have any idea why the phone can't hold a connection? This goes for anything that streams with this phone. Verizon says I
have no restrictions on my acct. Network? Phone set up problem? Phone/hardware problem? Software issue? thanks, Frustrated.
hey try this when you put the program on, go over to the sling box and remove the internet connection and then power it down. waiting for about 5 min and then plug the internet back in and then plug the sling box back in, i did this and have not had a problem with accessing it. i didnt need to do any port forwarding just rebooted the box and bam!!! it works
I have the same set up and am having no luck in connecting.
Any other ideas to try?
i just re-read the comment i wrote....
1. unplug internet connection to the slingbox (leaving your internet connected to router)
2. unplug power to slingbox.
3.wait 5 minutes.
4 reverse the process..
im telling you i have had this problem for over a 1yr. and did this on accident and baM!!! it worked.
Thanks Twizted, after running through the assisted set up again through my networked Mac, I did your process, and it worked! I'm Slinging again on the mobile! Thanks!
I appreciate your response. I just want to make sure that you believe that this is a remedy for me. I have no problems with a computer connection to the slingbox long and forever steady. My issue is with slingbox (the same slingbox) using SB Mobile and the XV6800, with a verizon cell it connects and after about two minutes EVERYTIME it drops the connection. I am in one place, don't move it still drops. Flick the switch on the phone to byapss the cell connection and switch over to wifi and it works perfectly, only the cell connection is problematic. Any thoughts or remedies? Many thanks
I would recomend looking at your device and verify that you dont have anything accessing the network. It could be something consuming your bandwidth. ALSO have you tried using the wifi/remote connection at some one elses house or work? If you have and it works well, then You may want to consider backing up your device and giving it a full reset, at that point reinstall only sling and see if it works well, if it does than it could have been a piece of software on the phone. I go through this all the time with my dad, we both have xv6800's and his is constantly jamming up from all the stuff he has on it.
I have the xv6800, when I first got it, sling mobile worked fine. I updated the ROM to the latest version, and ever since I have not been able to use my sling moblie. It connects for aproximately 30 seconds and then gives me the error message "weak connection, please try again later.
Anyone else having this problem, and are there any solutions?
Thanks
Did you update the XV6800 to a different rom, say one from DCD or the Sling Box?
If you did the sling box, check and make sure that it's settings are correct, I just upgraded mine to the beta rom for sling player 2 and that changed it's IP on my net work. I didn't notice this until I tried to watch TV from my hospital bed a few days ago... a bummer of a time to discover that.
If you did the xv6800 what rom did up burn to it?
Thanks for the response. It was actually the ROM update on Verizons website. I didn't mess with my slingbox at all. I am sorry about your hospital visit. I tried to watch mine in a Drs office where I was in the waiting room for over 90 minutes! I am seriously thinking about taking the phone back. I have about 5 days left to make a decision.
hmmm, I have not used the Verizon stock rom in some time, You may want to think about looking at www.xda-developers.com in their forums you will find a section about upgrading your device. You have a "titan" and look at the DCD Roms.
Thanks for your help. I took it back and got the XV 6900. It works great, and I am happy again!
Thanks for your time and trouble.
Well it worked great for a little while. Now I get the same Weak connection message and cannot watch my sling mobile for more than 30 seconds. It finds my slingbox, connects, then optimizes, then plays for 30-45 seconds, starts optimizing again while stopping, and then the weak signal message comes through. I am really disappointed.
