What speeds are you getting now? And I doubt it would improve the quality. The Slinglink's speed is usually a lot faster than the speed a Slingbox can stream at.
Hello,
I have been contemplating purchasing the SlingLink turbo 1-port (SL150-100 ). I already own the SlingLink (SL100-100), the ethernet connection bridge that I purchased with my SlingBox AV. I know the "turbo" has faster upstream speeds and newer technology than the SL100-100.
Do you think I will notice a considerable difference in video quality if I purchase the "turbo"? I get decent video qualityon my SlingBox AV...and sometimes the video is choppy and slow. I would like to have good quality video all the time.
Your thoughts?
Thanks.
Well...it depends on my internet usage. If I am just watching video I can get up to 1300 Kbps. A lot slower if the network is busier--~400-600 Kbps. I am wondering if the "turbo" can help with the latter.
Ahh... I see your concern. But, how are you connecting to your slingbox? Via WiFi on your laptop I presume? If that's the case, It's because of your WiFi speeds not the Slinglink speed. The only way the Slinglink matters is if your computer is connected via a Slinglink to your Slingbox directly, or the Slinglink is connected between your Router and Modem. Does that make sense?
Yes, that is correct. Both my laptop and desktop are connected to the internet via WiFi.
Thanks for making that point. I understand the situation.
Not sure if the TURBO will do it, but I did upgrade from a 11 mbs to an 100 mbs netgear setup and my speeds on the LAN went from 2.5mbs to 8mbs. I think there is certainly more headroom in more bandwidth. I don't get anything higher than 500kps coming OUT on the WAN though.
