I have an A/V with Mac Slingplayer using AT&T HomePortal 1000HG. The Slingbox works great on wireless LAN but when going through Remote Viewing set up I keep getting "Can't connect to Internet"

I followed HomePortal set up in Remote Viewing tutorial to tee. "My SlingBox," IP address for Slingboox is good, port 5001 is open, and have correct finderID but kicks back no connection. What am I missing? Do I need to do anything to MacOS Leopard 1.5.2 precedences??

Tell us your equipment and how you have it connected. This will help us figure out your problem.

You might want to call AT&T to find out about opening up the port on the home portal.  I am not real familar with them but I would venture a guess they are based on 2wire equipment.  But, doesn't the portal interconnect with your TV and other items in your house when you sign up for the service from AT&T?

Slingbox ProHD Slinging Comcast cable and HD via Comcast HSI using AirLink Powerline adapters; Slingbox Pro and Classic Slinging Sunddenlink Cable and D* HR21 via Sunddenlink HSI, using Linksys Gaming adapter. 2 Slingcatchers set up to use Slings.

Jay,

The best way is to manually configure your ATT 2 Wire box. I am not sure if you only went through the slingbox setup. Below is the link showing step by step on how to open/configure your 2Wire 1000HG.

thanks for ?

I have iMac Intel and iBook with Leopard OS
All on a 2 wire Homeportal 1000HG router from AT&T. It is DSL internet input and has the wireless LAN I have two TiVOs each with TiVO wireless receiver, 2 computers with airport, and Slingbox AV with a wieless Linksys game adapter. The local LAN slingmedia works good to all computers to view the TiVo and TV.

I called AT&T support, a third party company, and told them the problem. They say out-of-scope and it would be a $100/hour to "talk" to me. I didn't see the 'love" to help me.

I did manually configure the home portal to " http://us.slingmedia.com/object/2wire_1000hg.html." It is still set that way and the homeportlal status shows that port 5001 is open for my slingbox.

Try using another port that might be open. 443 maybe? Doesn't sound like you have any servers on your network that would use this port.

Changed to 443 on remote view test still no internet connection.

Do you have a DMZ option in your router? If so, put the slingbox there and see if it works.

Put to DMZ and it didn't help. Thanks.

My next suggestion would be to try borrowing a router from a friend and see if that works.

Remote on my pc quit working.I am hooked to my son's cable box,and have had no problems until a few days ago.I can access his cable box and watch his tv,but now the remote will not work. The programs change by themsesves, and my remote does not work at all.I have no control over what I watch. He did change the router, using the same kind as the old one.No one is using the tv or cable box that I am hooked to.

I should add,My slingbox is (AV) and the remote is Motorolla.

Sounds a lot like your IR cable is not pointed at the receiver any more. Either that or the IR is loose. Is the model of the receiver correct?

Thanks,He did disconnect everything and moved stuff around while I was on vacation. The modem is the same as the old one,and like I said,I can view, but the remote will not work.I will have him check the IRcable out. Thanks again!
