I heard a Chicago Tribune film critic on WGN Radio this morning talking to Spike O'Dell about the upcoming Ironman superhero movie. According to him, Ironman is must-see film... three and a half stars!

I never would have Robert Downey Jr. would be a good superhero. What are your thoughts on this film? Is this guy crazy or does Gwyneth Paltrow distract people from the actual movie?

Matt I'm a Super-Hero fan, I just love X-Men, Superman, Batman, Ironman and so.
Defenitely I need to watch this movie because Robert Downey Jr. For being Jhon Stark is quite a challenge most of all because, Robert doesn't look like a hero, but let's give him a chance and see what he can do, Hollywood ran out of ideas so they're bringing up back to life all our past heroes (Batman, Ironman, Spiderman)I'm glad about that because I really love comics, I recall when the first X-Men got out..My God I've watch this movie at least 1000 times and still get excited about it, is the really "masterpiece" of director Bryan Singer.
For updates of movies I invite everyone to visit www.jurassicpunk.com you can find trailers of upcoming movies is my "source of power" for movies updates.

When I see the movie I can tell you Matt if it worth the movie ticket or not, hopefully it does because Ironman is a great super-hero!

Hi Viper,

I'm all for giving Robert Downey Jr. a chance. I have to say I was surprised to see such good reviews from critics... superhero movies don't always get the best reviews. Plus, the tailer didn't really sell me, so I pretty much brushed it off.

Totally agree with you on X-Men, which is probably one of the (if not THE) best made superhero movie. I thought part 3 was a tad on the weak side, but 1 and 2 were phenomenal films. I'll also give props to the Spiderman movies, Batman, Batman Returns, and Batman Begins too. I'm actually hoping for another new Superman movie... Superman Returns hit in the middle of my "meh" meter, but certain scenes really made that movie shine.

I may actually have to take a trip to the theater on this one. Given I had such low expectations, it may actually make the movie better. Plus in the interview I heard RDJ and Gwyneth (playing Pepper Potts) have some good on-screen chemistry.

The reviews have been coming back mostly positive! (See Rotten Tomatoes.) Though, I read an article on CNN.com or somewhere saying it's a tough weekend to launch since all us geeky males will be preoccupied with Grand Theft Auto IV. I know I will be... ;) My favorite super-hero/comic movies are probably still Tim Burton's Batman and Superman 2. The Crow had lots of potential as a franchise, but Brandon Lee was killed on the set. More recently, I did enjoy the Batman reset and the X-Men movies have been decent. I didn't care for the latest Superman and Spiderman flicks.

Well Matt if you wacth the movie first let us know to see if it worth to look at it at the theater or wait until is on the Blockbuster!

And yes Dave, GTA VI is the main concern of a lot of gamers right now, I personally played GTA Vice City (Which is my favorite of the series) and GTA San Francisco, but let's say I'm not "thrilled" for the next GTA, I rather enjoy the movies, but however what is my opinion against the THOUSANDS of GTA gamers.

But returning to Matt, hopefully the "chemistry" on the screen for Ironman is truth and not make a mistake like X-Men 3 which I agree with Matt is a tad on the series.

D'oh! Someone had to say Grand Theft Auto IV... I promised myself I wouldn't buy it until it hit the $29.99 hit list, but it's getting really, really tempting. I may skip the 25 dollar trip to the theater this weekend and invest in something that will keep me entertained for months over a few hours.

Besides, these things hit the DVD rack in a few months anyway these days. I'll probably just buy it when its out on video.

Sorry Viper, I think I need to go start a GTA IV thread...

Well, I am not a gamer - but did choose to go see Ironman. My wife and I enjoyed the movie, though we have not read the comic books in the past. My wife is talking about running out to Borders and buy an issue or two just to see how faithful the movie was to the original.

Has anyone tried the Ironman game yet?
I saw this review and they gave it two out of four stars. What did you think?
