I just got a slingbox a/v and set it up at my brothers house to take advantage of his nfl package for this season. Anyways, setup went fine and I was watching it on his network. Then I tested at my parents house..and then in-laws. Both remote locations worked perfectly! Now that I am back home, I can't connect. I have asked my brother if anything has changed since then and he says he hasn't touched it. So that means its on my end. so recap perfect setup working on same network working on 2 different remote occassions not working at my house oh also..this may also help. When I first got it..I set it up at my house before taking to my brother's just to make sure it was working...and it wouldn't setup the remote viewing on my network. So I'm guessing I have firewall issues...? My router is a Netgear Rangemax WPN824 v2

With the router that you have, YES, probably is preventing you to connect remotely, but the problem could be at your brother's end too, maybe the settings for the Slingbox on the router were wiped out for some power outage/failure, so check this at your bother's network, then test it out from your parents again, if it work it should work on your network too, if not then you will know for sure is a firewall problem.

Well since I only have a few hours until the Red Wings/Stars game starts (which I will be viewing via the slingbox) can we assume its the router first..cause I can fix that easier than resetting up the slingbox and testing it at my parents again (both places are an hour away from me)

OK, in that case, look on your router for any SPI firewall and try to deactivate it and try to find any "Static NAT" or "DMZ" option on the router, and put the IP address of your computer over there, to grant it full access to the Internet, also disable any fireall that you might have running on the computer (Norton, McAFEE, TrendMicro, other)

Hmm well I tried everything I could on my router. I don't see Static NAT or DMZ..but I do have Static Routes. I tried that, still nothing. Then I tried just plugging straight into my cable modem...still nothing. I have no firewalls running on either of my macs.. I'm lost.

Ok everything is working!

I called my brother since I couldn't solve it on my end. Told him to reconfigure it and give it a static connection and make sure he setup his port forwarding and we are in business. Thanks for the help Viper!
