What I don't understand is with all the problems that are reported in the Fourms regarding router set up, failed remote viewing, port blocking, etc. why the heck doesn't Sling Media contract for and or provide a dedicated "sling" bullet proof router ?

They will be offering that basically when the cable modem/Slingbox comes out soon. It will be a router with a Sling included so you won't have the set up issues you find now. The question is how much will it be, what cable companies will go for it, and of course will those that use DSL make the switch becuase they can use Sling.

As for setting up the router isn't hard you just need to have some background in networking. They could try things like Microsoft did with "Xbox certified" rotuers but even that isn't always going to work, so many vairables come into play.

Slingbox Pro Slinging Comcast Analog and HD via Comcast Internet using AirLink Powerline adapters; Slingbox Classic Slinging Sunddenlink Analog Cable and DirecTV HR21 via Sunddenlink Internet, using netgear powerline adapters.

Especially the comments section which seems to indicate that this will be an cable company only product.  Too bad it won't go retail.Yell
