Looks like Sprint is following pretty much everyone else..

Is there anyone left that is truly unlimited?

*sigh* I've been hearing about this for a while now. Apparently all now contracts come with a stipulation of the limit. My contract says nothing about that and I have a year left.

While I understand the need to cap at some point since the RF links are shared resources and a person using it continually will take resources from others, I believe that 5 Gigs is too low. 10 Gigs would be a better cap. Sprint has no advantage now over other providers as AT&T also has a cap.

That said, given that most EVDO links will stream somewhere around 500 kbps on average, that's still over 40 solid hours a month of TV watching which is quite a bit. I don't think I've ever used more than 2 Gigs in a month.

That brings up a question, Can they change you mid-contract or are you truly unlimited until the contract is up?

I've never tracked mine. It will be interesting to see how much I actually use. Our company has like 30 data cards, plus at least that many phones.

I thought that same question. But technically the contract I signed doesn't say specifically that I can use as much data as I want w/o limits. It says nothing about it other than using the term "unlimited" and I'm not even sure that's in the contract. And I think the contract also stipulates that Sprint can change the terms of the contract at will...

At least they are being upfront about setting limits.

Service providers frequently insert into monthly statements little packets/brochures with contract updates in text too small to read. By not doing anything, we're agreeing to these new terms. Some folks tried to get out of contracts when a few carriers gave notice they were raising text message rates. Don't know how that worked out. 5GB should be fine for more handset customers (Slingbox owner or not), but I wonder if the same number applies to data cards. If so, I agree it's too low.

Well I was not happy with Sprint when the 5GIG cap was added, after wanting to watch my Sling SOLO while on vacation in another state. So here I purchased an Unlimited account that is not Unlimited anymore. YET you can get Simply Everything that includes - This plan includes Unlimited mobile internet and messaging: Web surfing, email, GPS Navigation, Sprint Music, Sprint TV®, BlackBerry® Internet Services (BIS), text, pictures, video. The more I thought about it, the more upset I got. Thus I felt because this limit was not applied across the board with all parties I fired off a letter to my Congressman who in turn sent this complaint to the FCC. SO FCC Complaint 08-C00025202 is being look at because I feel that the owners of the data cards are being discriminated against and are being singled out. We'll see what happens. This is another way that people are being restricted in using the Internet. Sling Comes out with something to enhance the users expirence and the networks that provide the service restrict your use in the netowrk, and can drop you at any time you exceed the limit and charge you $200.00 on top of that.
