I'm pretty much a Sling fanboy anyway but it reinforces the idea that this function isn't as easy as originally thought.

I haven't seen any real reviews on any of the other new entries.

I do have to wonder if a SC that did catching only might have been an easier goal??

Slinging Tivo Series 2, Tivo HD, and TW cable from a Pro. Slinging Tivo HD from a Solo, Slinging Humax DRT800, and TW cable from a Classic to Sprint Mogul, AT&T SX66, N62, 8525, and Dell Inspiron 8600 with Sprint EVDO over Windstream DSL.

I wouldn't call TakeTV a direct competitor, though I agree with the points that creating a good media extender (experience) is challenging and the category is hard to define. FYI TakeTV didn't handle ANY HD content which I found pretty lame. Never had one, though I saw it at a few events.
