From Engadget:
We had a feeling it was coming any day now, but now we have confirmation that Sling won’t be leaving iPhone and iPod touch users in the lurch when it comes to streaming TV to their devices. The bad news is the software they showed us was pre-alpha proof-of-concept, and their whole situation is hamstrung by the fact that Apple hasn’t officially accepted them into the developer program yet. So what we’ve seen is basically an app developed out of bounds for jailbroken devices — thus it goes without saying that Sling won’t be releasing it until they can do so legitimately. But assuming all goes well, they do intend to get it out the door by sometime this fall or winter. No word yet on the Android release. Video of the app in action after the break.

Yep, works on both. CNET is reporting possibly delivery later this year but more likely early 2009. :/

Are you guys reading these posts. Everything says alpha version, Apple hasn't approved Sling as a developer.
Slinging Tivo Series 2, Tivo HD, and TW cable from a Pro. Slinging Tivo HD from a Solo, Slinging Humax DRT800, and TW cable from a Classic to Sprint Mogul, AT&T SX66, N62, 8525, and Dell Inspiron 8600 with Sprint EVDO over Windstream DSL.
Don't worry, the iPhone SDK tools will still work. The number of developers applying are in the 10s of thousands, reportedly; and the approval process seems to have been lagging under the crush. Interestingly, there has been no prioritization for large well-known developers vs small developers. It's first come, first served, so don't read anything into the delay.
There's no reason for Apple to deny developer approval to anyone. It's the placement of apps on the App Store, where Apple can decide if your app contravenes their policies like no background processes, etc.
I really wish Sling would speed this development up. How about charging $25 for the iphone player? I am sure Apple will require them to charge something anyway and if the increased price gets this here sooner then I am all for it. I have the AT&T tilt and my wife has the iphone and there is no contest to which phone is better even without 3G. The only thing holding me back from switching to the iphone now that it is 3G is the lack of a sling player.
