i just checked something i can not even connect with direct connection. its not the network because my other computer just connected to slingbox. I have only been able to connect to slingbox a couple times at home so im thinking it has to been something on my new labtop.

It could be a firewall or some security application on the laptop. When you say the other computer works but the laptop doesn't - is the other computer using the same WiFi access point? Don't follow a red herring - for example, if the other computer is using a wired Ethernet connection and the laptop is on WiFi, it could still be a networking issue with the WiFi.

If he can connect from outside (the fact that he's using WiFi is irrelevant) at the same time that you cannot connect from machines on the LAN, then the problem is unlikely to be the Slingbox. Since he can connect the Slingbox must be up and working and talking properly. If it is just one PC on the LAN it is more likely to be something on that PC. If none of the machines on the LAN can connect, it is more likely to be an issue with the LAN than the individual machines.

when i had it set up with comcast i had no probelems but the verizon router sucks i tried to do a bridge but could not figure it out. I think it is a problem with my router but idk.

That's a logical conclusion - that it has to do with the router switch.

hey i figured it out it was my network router i changed the security to low on the router and that did it, i have it set up at my home that way to, thats why i was having trouble connecting at home to. now my question is how do i set the security up but allow the s b to work. I have already done port forwarding and that works just not sure how to do it on the other end to allow it to connect. thanks
