...won't allow me to install the SlingPlayer on my company laptop. I love my SlingBox, but unless I can figure out some kind of workaround, I will have to return it.

  • Is there a way (via website plugin for example) that I can see my slung content without SlingPlayer installed?
  • Anyone know if it's possible to install the SlingPlayer from one PC on to an external drive, and run it from another PC? (Does it need the registry entries, etc.)

If neither of these ideas are valid, I'm hoping there are other ideas out there lurking.

Thanks in advance.

I've been using Slingplayer on my work laptop for about 9 months.

We have the same issue and all I did was copy the Slingplayer directory from the program files directory on my home pc and copy it to my work pc as a folder in my documents.

To start it up you go into this folder and run slingplayer.exe.

The only other thing your company might do is stop port 5001 on your company firewall so I have used port redirection on my home router and I use port 443 instead.

Hope this helps.

try installing the slingplayer on a thumbdrive and play it from there.
