While watching on my laptop, solo will lock up. I can 'x' out and restart and it works again for a while. Sometimes works fine.

Does the Slingbox SOLO itself lock up (you have to restart the Slingbox) or does something happen with SlingPlayer and you have to restart the program?

Seems like the computer program locks up. I have tried changing some of the settings in SlingPlayer, but with any better results. Will sometimes lock up every couple of minutes. Other times goes an hour or so. Can change to my son's SlingBox or 'X' out of mine and bring it back up and it plays again.

blueshockey,

Sounds like some Windows application or service running that interferes with the SlingPlayer software. It could be virus protection/firewall software.

If you can check what other programs are running in the background at the same time with SlingPlayer

I have firewall turned off for Launch SlingPlayer. Virus protection and firewall are the only 2 programs running.

Does the video and audio stop or just the video?

Both picture and audio lock up. Just leaves a picture on the screen.

Is it possible the router is causing the problem? It acts like a program is locking up.

Have read reviews on Best Buy and seems to be others with this problem. Tech support says "bandwidth" is the problem. I am at 3gps download and 500 kbps upload on my connection. That should be enough. Anyone ever fixed this problem?

I am having the same problem. Slingplayer software locks up every 5 minutes or so when streaming. Restarting the software gets it going again, no restart required on the slingbox.

I have the player installed on multiple computers all with the same result: Vista SP1,XP SP3, and XP SP2. I have a broadband connection with 5MB down and 600K up, and never had any problems with the Slingbox Classic.

This is really unacceptable. So far, the SOLO isn't cutting it at all.

I fixed most of my problem by buying a D-link 625 router and adding a 512mb memory card to my laptop (that gave me 1gb memory). Have had the SlingBox Solo on for about 5 hours now and it hasn't locked up.  However, it does still slow down from 410kbps to 88kbps and then back up a ways. I have had to "X" off and restart SlingBox to bring speed back up. If I wait long enough, it will come up on it's own after a few minutes.

I used to have an older Linksys WRT54G, Version 1 Router. Tech support is telling me it's in my DSL speed.

My son has an older version of SlingBox and it runs pretty well on my computer. It does slow down tfrom 420kbps to about 190kbps. I may just have to live with what I've been able to achieve.

This is a real problem. Please someone from Sling step up and address this defect!

I used to use the Slingbox Classic using the same network config and components I'm using now, and never had any issues streaming remotely.

Simply swapping out the Classic for the Solo, and suddenly i'm freezing up every 2-3 minutes, and disconnecting and reconnecting is the only way to fix it.

This is not an issue with routers, memory, etc etc.
