I know the Nokia E71 isn't on the supported phone list for SlingPlayer but I though I'd try it out anyway. It works on the E90 after all.

For anyone interested the application installs fine but then none of the menu items or dialog boxes can be seen so it's impossible to configure anything. Even if it was possible to set it up I can't guarantee you'd be able to see  the video feed.

If anyone from SlingMedia is reading this please add the E71 to the supported phones :) I'd be more than happy to beta test anything. The E71 is an amazingly good phone, the build quality is excellent and it's very fast for a S60 device.

July 23, 2008 10:46 PM

The slingplayer doesn't work on my E71..
Please, make it happen. E71 is a great device. Worth working for it.
I'm more than happy to beta test.

Yes, I was disappointed when it didn't work. Please add me to the list of people requesting support for the e71.

I called slingmedia and they say you need to call, email, write .... do anything you can do but you must contact them. The tech guy said if it is just one or two people they dont take it seriously

I second that we should fight for E90/E71 support for SlingPlayer. Write your congresman (or slingbox) I dont know which is best....

I'll add myself to this list. Just picked up my E71 yesterday having been previously very happy with the E51. Lack of slingbox support on the E71 may make me revert back which is a shame because the E71 is a remarkable device for 'grown ups' and I would suspect is a phone of choice for the travelling professionals who are the most likely demographic to both have a slinbox and the dataplan to use it on their phones.

You can add me to the list of people who would love SlingPlayer. Just got an e71 today which I love but am dissapointed with the lack of support from Sling Media. Please release an update soon!!

Another frustrated E71 user here - gave back my old Nokia and no longer have access to my slingbox when I am out and about. This is serious what am I going to do in extended boring meetings if I can't watch the television?

I've paid Slingmedia for a Symbian version of Slingplayer and I have a Symbian phone - why doesn't it work?

August 7, 2008 6:51 PM

OK you just cant post here YOU.. every one of you have yo contact slingmedia on your own. posting here will not do you any good. you must contact SM

Well, I WAS thinking of getting the E71, but put off now, and may get an HTC to allow for this functionality. . .hohum. . .:-/

EDIT I have submitted feedback via their online chat facility, so hope it gets through

Can everyone else do the same or similar??

August 8, 2008 10:11 PM

Add me as another who would LOVE to see the E71 added to the Symbian S60 Slingplayer Mobile list. I currently love my N95 8gb, but will migrate over to an E71 once Slingplayer is supported. The QWERTY and pocketability of the E71 is so sweet!

Had a Chat session with member of Sling Support. Not particularly helpful. If anyone wants to see the transcript PM me and I will reply accordingly.

To be honest i do not think we will se either E90 or E71 Sling Player anytime soon.

SlingMeida is to busy doing UIQ (who asked for that?) and iPhone - and SlingPlayer 2.0.

So before those products are launched I think there is absolutely no chance of E71/E90 support - despite I think most of us would be happy with "stamp size" video like on the E90 - as long as we could use the menu's on the E71.

(Until a real version could be released)

best regards

Kasper
Who has paid for (so far):
2 x Sling Pro
1 x Symbian Client

and would happily pay for another Symbian client for the E71....

Add me to the list too! I have a Nokia E61. E61i and E71 and the only mobile device I have that is supported is my 3 year old Pocket PC. I guess iPhone support is coming and that's good news, but when?

August 10, 2008 6:36 PM

THERE IS NO LIST.. YOU HAVE TO CONTACT SLINGMEDIA... NOT HERE

August 11, 2008 7:10 AM

I spoke to Slingmedia's Tech Support Dept today. No plans as yet but as and when an update to the software takes place, it will be on the website. All I can suggest is that as many people as possible do the same! Heck, lets all ring them every week for the next month. They will get the picture eventually LOL :)

August 14, 2008 11:12 AM

I just sent an email to Sling requesting support for the Nokia E71. I suggest you all do the same to help facilitate the support for the E71. I also sent a link to this thread so hopefully Sling will get some visibility into what the people want (and are willing to pay for) ;-).

Oh yeah, here's the link to contact Sling:
