FYI, the 320x320 resolution on the new Treo 800w doesn't allow slingplayer to work

It won't run at all? The picture's distorted or what?

That is exactly what mine is doing? Any thoughts on how to resolve... :-( I am very sad. I got rid of my blackberry for this cause i wanted to with sling quicker than the bb version is coming out.

If it is a problem with the screen res, you should be able to reduce it and get it to work. I'd suggest contacting SlingMedia support.

I'm hoping there will be an update very soon. The 800w is pretty nice, but it's just a phone without the Slingplayer!

It is odd how the resolution clears (sort of) when you have the menu popped up over it.

I add my "please support the 800w" vote here, as well. It's coming to Verizon, too, so WM Pro 320 x 320 devices will hopefully become ubiquous enough to get some SlingPlayer Mobile love.

Yeah, this is dissapointing, considering the version I ran on my Palm 700p was 320 x 320 and looked amazing. I just upgraded today to the 800w (if I'd seen this post I might have waited ...) hoping there's a quick update.

So the issue isn't that it's 320x320. Has anyone contacted Sling support to see if they've got a fix or workaround? I wouldn't count on it but it's worth a try..

Good thinking...we all came here thinking they might be reading the forums.

What a bummer, I was loving my 800W until I tried the one reason I bought it-Slingplayer mobile! I couldn't believe it, I brought it back today and swapped for an HTC Touch. Slingplayer works perfect on this device.

After much back and forth email with Slingmedia support, I finally got them to understand our problem, and here is the email I received (you wouldn't believe the first 3!):

Thank you for contacting Sling Media support.

You are right.

I apologize for this inconvenience.

I have found the Tech Specs for the Palm Treo 800w Smartphone.

I have sent this information about the requested support for the Palm
Treo 800w Smartphone to the department in charge.

Periodically, we are updating the supported devices lists.

Hopefully, this device will be included on any of the upcoming updates.

Thank you for your feedback.

Wow, so they had no idea the Palm Treo 800w was coming out? After a year of rumors and inuendo? It was one of the worst kept secrets, hard to believe it was a surprise. I mean, you'd think Palm themselves would be making some of the premiere third-party applications aware of the device since it has a new (to WinMobile) resolution. I just can't believe no one on SlingMedia's technical staff was keeping up with new devices; hopefully this is in the wings and about to come out.

Regardless, I plan to start pestering the companies I buy software from months in advance when I'm expecting to buy an upcoming device ...

I'm not surprised at all. Palm did nothing to prepare for the launch of the 800w. If you look around, you'll notice there are no accessories available. No cases, few screen protectors, no charge/sync cables, no replacement stylus.

Major disappointment.

To clarify: The Treo 800w is the "first and only" 320 x 320 Windows Mobile device. True, SlingPlayer Mobile now runs on Palm OS 320 x 320 devices but that's a completely different version... Take it easy and give Sling time. I'd bet "dollars to donuts" they're already working on this.

Yeah, putting in my request for Treo 800w support...

c'mon Sling! Get to it, lol

tbhausen: The Samsung i780 was the first 320x320 WM Pro device on the market ;-)

Yeah, putting in my request for Treo 800w support...

+1

I need it to.

I currently have a Treo 650, I wanted to upgrade to the Treo 800W but I see that the slingmedia software is not compatible. But this website below is advertising that it is compatible.

Trust us. It's not compatible yet.
