Have you run the setup wizard for the slingbox again? if you used PnP, and changed your network (especially your router) you need to run it again.
I'm trying to determine if my Slingbox Tuner has been fried by lightning. It was working with my XP laptop. Then I changed laptops and began using a Vista SP1 laptop. I installed the Sling software on it, but did not attempt to connect. Then lightning struck and fried my modem and my router. I have a new router, configured exactly like the old router and a new modem. Now I try to connect to the Slingbox. Nothing. I get the following error:
The connection attempt failed. Make sure the Slingbox you are trying to watch is on, set up for remote viewing, and not blocked by firewall/NAT settings.
Error: 0x8007274c The router is a WRV54G Linksys, said by them to be vaguely equivalent to what I had. The Sling is hard wired to the router. My laptop is attached to the router wirelessly. The router is unsecured. The router does not have the default addr but is configured exactly like the old router.
I cannot connect to either my Slingbox or to a remote Slingbox. Everything else on the network is back up and working fine.
I checked Norton (which is new to me) and the Slingbox program is allowed to communicate with 64-16-232-2 outbound TCP, 5001.
I also tried to connect to both these Slings with the firewall on and off. Same result - no connection and the above error message.
Both the power and network lights are on solid and apparently working correctly.
So, have I forgotten something, or is the thing fried like the router and the modem? What else can I do to answer this question? I tried calling Tech Support, but they'd gone home for the day.
Thanks, Alice Campbell
I can't find the setup wizard. I thought it would run when I reinstalled, but when I had the trouble, I wanted to go back and run it again, but don't see how to invoke it.

Of course, you need to be on your local network to do it.
I found the setup on the edit menu under Slingbox configuration. I tried clicking it and got the above mentioned cryptic error message again!
Sorry I haven't had the time to reply, but were you on your local network when you ran it? and was your connection wired or wireless?
Thanks muchly, BaalthazaaR! I thought I'd added this, but apparently it didn't get in. I finally connected with support, and we did a few things, and they pronounced it dead. They FedEx'd me a new one, which dropped right in with no problems and is running great! The lightning just fried the old one, but not bad enough to turn it's lights out.
For curiosity's sake, my computer was on the same network wirelessly. I understand the wireless computer connection is sometimes a problem, but with this new box, it isn't. All is now well, and I was even able to connect 2 Slings on the same network, 1 Tuner and 1 AV running different devices/sources with no trouble.
I'm totally sold on these things! What I really want now is the PRO to connect 4 things at once. Tonight I'm going to get my Mobile program going so I can watch on my Treo.
Thanks again for the help.
Alice
I'm glad you got it resolved. I should have suggested contacting Sling Media Support sooner. I've been enjoying slinging for years and am a big fan. I'm eagerly awaiting the SlingCatcher and the Slingbox Pro HD. The announcements looked so cool, that I actually signed up for beta testing, even though I swore off beta testing anything ten years ago. But I wasn't picked anyway.
