Hi

Just wondering if anyone here has tried to sling on a HTC Touch Diamond?

If you could get a stream at about 12-1300 kbpsm, what kind of framerate could i expect to see on the Diamond?

best regards

I would like to try this myself, but I am unable to install the Slingplayer to my Touch Diamond. My phone tells me the downloaded .exe file is not a PocketPC program...? I have tried both PocketPC version and SmartPhone version. I used the phone to download the program, but it refuses to install when I run it.

How did you install it? Any suggestions for me?

I have not tried it yet, I'm still waiting for the Diamond.

Maybe you should try to download to your desktop? I'm not sure why donwloading to your phone does not work.

I just caught that you downloaded the exe file. If you download directly to the phone you need to download the cab file.

I would try downloading to the computer and running the setup from there. That way it syncs your finder ID so you don't have to enter it manually also..

Slinging Tivo Series 2, Tivo HD, and TW cable from a Pro. Slinging Tivo HD from a Solo, Slinging Humax DRT800, and TW cable from a Classic to Sprint Mogul, AT&T SX66, N62, 8525, and Dell Inspiron 8600 with Sprint EVDO over Windstream DSL.

Hi Vidar

Did you get a chance to try what Ryandh suggested?

Yes I tried this and it worked well:) I did this on a computer I didn't have Slingplayer installed on so I did not have the finder ID synced. I manually entered this ID.

The install procedure on Slingmedia homepage does not mention that you need to download a different file if you do it to your mobile directly. I did not even see the cab file on this page. They should be clearer about this.

I don't know how to check the framerate when streaming, but on my WLAN it looked good. I have only tried optimized streaming.

I just tried to install on the Diamond. I cant get more than about 16fps, and 5-600 kbps. Doesn't look to good.
Is there any way to get the player to output 640x480?

How do you actually check these parameters (framerate, speed and resolution)?

In the "Advanced" tap, there is a checkbox that says "Show statistic". If you choose to check that box, the Slingplayer will show you fps and bitrate.

I did manage to find the bitrate setting in the registry of my phone, so it is possible to make it stream with more than 600 kbps (I set it for 1000kbps). However, I think my phone is just underpowered when it comes to Slingplayer, because the framerate is just too low when the videoresolution is 320*240.

On my WLAN it starts off slow at 8-9 fps, 200kbps. After a while I get 20-24 fps and around 500 kbps. But it quickly drops down if I start using the phone (going into menues etc.). I am just using optimized streaming, medium action.

I think it's fair to say that the Diamond does not work well with Slingplayer, if you want to use 320x240.

I hope they will work on fixing playback on the Touch Diamond. I am going to get this phone when it comes out in the U.S. and I would love it if they added support for the 640x480 screen.

For those who have the Touch Diamond already: In general do you have problems running most Windows Mobile software on the VGA screen or is there good compatibility with the 640x480 resolution?
