Hey, wouldn't it be cool if you could use your iPhone or iPod Touch as a remote control for your Slingbox?

Apple have just done exactly this for AppleTV - anybody know of anything similar planned for the SB?

Presumably this would work via wifi in the same way as Apple Remote.

Wishful thinking or is anyone talking about this yet?

You can do this. With touchpad pro, you can control you laptop or pc from your touch, so theoretically if you have slingplayer open, you can control it. (you can't see the video though) you can also use the SLR REcorder, save it to a file and watch it on your itouch with Orb Live. there is about a 20-30 second delay though.

Thank you!

This looks to be exactly what I'm looking for.

However, I note you need to jailbreak your iPhone first - I'd prefer not to do this, I'd rather wait to see if this app appears in the app store.

I'll stay tuned - thanks!

I was a little leary jailbreaking the touch. I read up on it quite a bit and decided to give it a try. It was actually quite easy and has made the touch more than just a fancy mp3 player. You can actually turn it into a Nintendo NES and play the old school nintendo games on it.

Found a solution that does not require you to jailbreak your iPhone.

There is now a VNC client available in the AppStore - Mocha (and it's free).

Put this on my iPhone, voila - I can now use my phone as a SlingBox remote control.

Awesome!
