this is without a doubt the most unstable piece of technlogy I hae ever used. It is about the 10th time I have verified remote viewing at home and have it fail when I go out of town. What the he** good is this thing if it can never work as advertised. I get it all synchronized at home. Says remote viewing is all set. I go away from home, it starts up fine, and 5 minutes later 0x93200005. If I shut it down it will restart fine and go for 5 minutes at a time. This slingbox is the biggest disappointment in a technological product I have ever purchased. Sling owners should file a clas action lawsuit for false advertising. Dang I sick of trying to get this to work the way I was told it would.

Have you tried checking if it's your router or possibly your ISP throttling your connection? If it says it's connected my guess is it's not your Sling but another issue on yoru network.

I agree. I do not think this is an issue with your Slingbox. Where are you trying to connect from? The error you are mentioning could be an issue with your home modem or router, OR you are at a location that limits bandwidth and your connection is being dropped because you are using to much in such a short span of time. The later can happen in hotels, at work, wireless connections away from home, or with some ISPs who limit bandwidth.

I have Brighthouse cable modem and Linksys 54gt router. If my router at home is working (Bellsouth DSL), and I assume it is because it says the remote setup is good when I check it at home. What do I have to adjust at my remote location to keep the stream going more than 5 minutes without getting 0x93200005 error? I dont get the problem. I watch baseball on major league ticket at 1.2mbs streaming to this same cable modem and router, but it cant handle 400kbs streaming from my slingbox? Does'nt make sense. I think the slingbox set up is faulty and they need to fix the system.
Actually in Slingbox's defense, I wouldn't say their setup is faulty, but actually really good.
Your problem could even go as far as your internet provider may not allow for third party (slingbox) systems to utilize a large amount of bandwidth for video streaming. When you are watching your MLB through the major league ticket, you are viewing it through your main ISP, not a second ISP just for the video streaming (which is what the slingbox does).
Maybe check to see if there is a port-forwarding issue. On my DSL router/modem from my slinging spot, I had a similar problem and it was a port forwarding issue. The only difference was, I was not able to connect remotely until I did the port forwarding.
All port forwarding does is assign a specific port in your router to be designated for a device. Basically how you would need to tell your firewall that a program is ok.
Slingmedia.com has a ton of information, step-by-step instructions on walking you through this. That is my suggestion, I could be wrong. But good luck because I know once you get it going you will be really satisfied with your slingbox.
In addition to what ostate suggested, if you already have port forwarding enabled, try a different port. For example, if you are using port 5001, try something else. Many have their Slingbox set to port 80 or 443. there are some disadvantages for doing this, such as a slightly slower streaming speed, but definately worth a try.

JakeI have tried forwarding several different ports. Everytime it tells me remote viewing is set up properly. When I go to use it remotely I get the error every five minutes. I have adjusted my ports at the slingbox. Am I supposed to adjust ports at my remote location? That wouldnt make sense as I cant log into most remote location networks to adjust anything.
This is strange. You mentioned you have Bellsouth DSL. Please tell us how your network is set up. What is the make/model of your modem provided from Bellsouth? How old is that device? Do you have an additional router? Are you using any wired- or wireless-bridges, hubs, switches, etc.?
You are correct in assuming that you do not have to adjust any settings away from home. Another question is, have you tried to connect to someone elses Slingbox while away from home? Have you called Sling support?
The Slingbox is an awesome product, works as advertised and is amazing. Most do not have the same issues as you report. I hope we can all assist in resolving your issue.

From my experience, it works or it doesn't work. If it works for 5 minutes then your setup at home is ok. If it stops working, send the box back to the dealer and claim a new one. Eventually try to connect from a different remote computer (with a different ISP if possible - eventually ask a friend to try from his PC) as a test, but I doubt it will work.
You may also want to contact the ISP your trying to watch it on. Birghthouse, there may be an issue with the connection coming into the house, I only say this becuase I had a problem not being able to watch my Slingbox nor a network camera I have (both used port forwading). After discussing many different issues they sent out a Tech (from the business side not the residental) and they finally found what the issue was. It could also be an issue with your Slingbox, but I would first work with your ISP(s) and see if that's the issue. Do you have anywhere else you can check your connection on (ell phone using a friends house etc) you need to check and see if you can connect from another location and stay connected for a given amount of time.

Here is what Sling support told me on a help chat. Does this expaination mean anything to anyone?
Tech says he got same error as me (0x93200005) after the same 5 minutes I was getting the error. Says I will need to be at home to configure my router manually with the IP address that the router will assign to the Slingbox under the DCHP Clients List and with port 5001 and protocols TCP/UDP and after that I run the network setings wizard. Tells me it is crapping out after 5 mnutes because of the MTU size of my home location.
I could have sworn I already tried this, but who knows. I thought when the wizard said your god to go, you were. Guess not.
Likely its a config issue with your ISP.
If your cable service is shared for TV and internet access, the likeihood is that the upload speed is being max'd out when viewing remotely.
Lower your slingbox output image quality to conserve bandwidth.
granted the image looks like crap, but its like watching a VCD.
I'm using the lowest possible speed that my ISP can provide, 608kbps down/128 up, and my slingbox is working great.
Though I have noticed in locations that have older cable modems service, my viewing tend to be choppier or drops completely.

What it sounds like the Sling support suggested was going into your modem's settings and changing the port around. I am assuming that all you have attempted to do is run the slingplayer/slingbox setup wizard. Yes, this is all you should have to do, BUT, some modems (from your provider) does not allow for certain types of access to the internet.
Just as jfitzpa503 suggested, put up some details about your modem, like the model number and what type it is.
What I am guessing is that you will have to log into your router, and setup the 5001 port to be connected to your slingbox. If I am mistaken and you have already tried this I apologize, I am making the assumption a based on your statement of "I thought when the wizard said your good to go, you were."
Most likely you will either log into your router by going into your Internet Explorer (Firefox, Safari, what have you) and type either "192.168.1.1" - which is the standard home address for a modem. OR, (in the case of some modems/routers) you will have to type in something like "router.login.com" or something, followed by entering in an Admin and Password. If you have never done this before, chances are that your Admin is named "Admin" and your password is named "password" - I would call your service provider prior to doing so just to make sure.
From there, you will have to search for something like, "Port Triggering," Options, or even viewing what labels are on your network. Since your modem sees your slingbox, because you can connect at home, there should be some sort of ISP designated to the slingbox (as well as a Mac address), from there you can usually go into some sort of "details" section even to access the information that will setup remote viewing for you.
To me what is sounds like is the Port Forwarding issue, because the Slingboxs has a parameter of ports it uses to send out its signal, where some modems automatically are configured to block those ports unless told otherwise, for security issues.
I hope that information helps.
ostate said:At my home location I use a Westell modem with Bellsouth DSL. I use a Dlink 625 router. I hope the tech knows what he is talking about and this fix will work. I am extremely frustrasted with the back and forth trying to get remote viewing to work properly. Sometimes I wonder if the cable modem provider at my remote location (Brighthouse) purposely blocks the sling stream after 5 minutes because they want to force me to buy cable tv from them.MitchG said:What it sounds like the Sling support suggested was going into your modem's settings and changing the port around. Oh ok the Westell modem, I actually use the same DSL modem, only it is through Verizon.
This will help you out: http://support.slingmedia.com/get/KB-005344.html
Enter in that you have a Westell, and depending on the model number, those step-by-step instructions should get you to where you need to be. You will need the username and password to log into your actual Westell modem.
Did you forget your password?
You can also log in using OpenID.
