It's your ISP in Japan that is the culprit. Somewhere along the line there is a slow uplink. My only suggestion is to change ISPs. Sorry.
Hi,
I have a slingbox pro setup in San Francisco using ATT network with max around 700 kbps upload speed. I have no problem watching this from my office or on the road in the states and the picture is decent and sound is fine.
Now I'm in Japan on vacation and having issues with the stream. It starts fine around 500 kbps and then drops down to 90 kbps which in unwatchable. The download speed here is 3 megs and I have tried from 3 different locations and cities. Not sure if there are any tricks or settings that I could change to improve the streaming speed.
Any idea what to do?
By the way, I have access to my office computer in the states and I login via terminal server to it and I tested I turned on the slingplaer and it worked fine with decent streaming speed but I can't watch it for long time since it is done via terminal services.

Thanks for the reply. I have used 3-4 different ISP's so far and non of them worked.
I'm using a yahoo BB right now. Used T1 connection from a company office and used wired connection from 3 different hotels and still the same issue. I used the same laptop thought but I have used this laptop in the states with no problem.
There isn't much you can do then. You'll have to wait out the network problems. It's never a direct connection from one computer to another on the Internet. And one of the waypoints that your data is going through is having problems. If you are very technical, I would suggest a trace route that you can either send to your Japanese ISP or US one depending on where the congestion is. But, unless you're a business customer, they probably won't be able to help.
Hi,
I had similar problem see FW 1.2.07 post, I had to ensure both TCP and UDP Port 5001 are set in the routers!
New FW does not work for me at all, drops down to 90k, FW 1.0.34 works just fine.

Marcus
