No, I don't think you could you use any kind of splitter on the CAT5/coax. Assuming I'm understanding you correctly.
The problem is connecting the Slingbox network cable to the box in living room, right? If so, you have two options: (1) get a l-o-n-g network cable or, (2) use a Slinglink bridge (~$65).
I am a complete newbie so please respond in kind.
I have the Slingbox Classic and AT&T Uverse for wired/wireless internet, tv plus DVR. I had my Slingbox hooked up to the living room TV where the main internet modem is, but due to a tv hog roomate decided to move the dvr cable box up to my bedroom. It worked wonderfully in this original configuration. Of course i want to use Slingbox to watch my recorded shows, so his is necessary. There is only one cat-5 run in the bedroom and it hooks into the AT&T cable box. (AT&T boxes can take cat-5 or coaxial and they are interchangeable, but there is still just one cable that currently has a cat-5 adapter to coaxial cable.) Since I not only need to hook up the Slingbox into the AT&T box and the internet, how do I do this without spending a ton more money? Do they make cat-5 splitters like they do for phone lines? Will it work?
You can get a Network Switch ($30-50 USD) and a Cross Over Cable. That will give you additional network ports.
