I think I may have damaged the IR blaster cable for my Slingbox AV.  I just moved and when reconnecting the Slingbox to my Comcast cable box I found that the remote won't work at all.  My actual remote controls work fine, but the Slingbox won't control the cale box.  The settings didn't change but just to make sure I reconfigured the Slingbox from scratch.  I then moved the Slingbox to my Comcast DVR and reconfigured again and still no luck.  I searched everywhere I can think of but can't find the IR blaster for sale by itself.  Does anyone know where I can find one, or if there's a generic part I could find somewhere like Radio Shack that would work?  I'd rather try this before buying a new Slingbox.

Do a search on google. I've seen them online before. Also, you can use a digital camera to verify if the IR cable is working.

I've found IR emitters on Amazon and some other places but they don't state if they'll work with the Slingbox or not so I was hoping someone would know for sure. How would a camera be able to show me if it's working or not?

All IR emitters are generic. So, it should work. As for testing it, a digital camera can see Infra Red light. Just point the IR blaster at the lens while the camera is on. Then send some signals to the sling box via the sling player. You should see the led flash in the digital screen on your camera.

I'll give that a try, thanks.

When picking up the IR make sure the plug is the correct size. They have some that use the larger size. Radio Shack may carry them or your local stereo shop.

I tried the camera test and I didn't see any signal from the emitter. I contacted SlingMedia and they're sending me a new one. :)

You can point a remote control for your TV or DVD player into the camera and see what the flashing light looks like. FYI

Yeah, I did that after I couldn't see the light from the IR emitter just to make sure I was doing it right. I tried it with my Harmony universal remote and and saw two flashing white lights. I checked the Slingbox's IR emitter again and it was definitely dead.

Call slingbox and they will send you a replacement for free. I broke mine and I have one on the way.
