Hi Folks

I have just bought my SB Classic, and when I first installed it last week, I was able to get the Sky+ controls to work properly from my laptop across my home network.

However, I then had to uninstall the Slingplayer s/w several times for various reasons (possibly because of a tipple too many!) and now I have a problem from both inside and outside the home network.

Whenever I open Slingplayer it seems to take control of the Sky+ receiver (Pace 3200, not a later Thomson unit) and locks it up on the channel to which it already set. At that point, none of the on-screen remote control buttons work, and - it seems from my wife at home! - the Sky+ receiver is also locked up and does not respond to the direct local remote control. The only way to get things working again seems to be to switch off power to the Sky+ and the S/B at the wall socket!

For the moment, I have asked her to relocate the I/R transmitter away from the IR receiver on the SKy+ box so that it cannot control the latter  (the video and audio connections from the receiver to the SB are from the S-video and phono sockets on the receiver, and there is no UHF/Antenna or other input to the SB).

Note: the latest versions of the SP s/w & SB firmware were downloaded from the Support site - but only after this began to occur (I think everything was OK before that!)

So, does anyone have any idea why this might be happening?

 Thanks in advance.

 John

Have you tried using another computer to see if it's the install on that one computer or something with the slingbox?

Phil

I have been away from home for most of the week, and only got a chance to try again from Home on this Saturday evening.

Then, from inside my home network and using wired ethernet, I tried SlingPlayer to see what happens without any changes to my laptop or to the SB setup in the lounge  - and it works fine, even with the IR sender well off-centre from the IR eye on the Sky+ !!

Therefore, could this be  a router firewall issue, and / or just slow remote comms connections?

 Regards

 John

more likely it's a slow communication issue. Glad everything is working again.

I am now back at the hotel where I was staying last week, in a room with good wifi reception, and everything seemed to work fine last night.

So, apart from bad comms the week before, I can't imagine what the problem might have been!

(However, I have been reading a few more of the threads in this forum, and I was begining to worry if it was the version 1.5 firmware that I loaded after I got the SB working in the first place - but before I came away to the hotel. Appparently not, but the fingers are still a bit crossed!)
