I was wondering if anyone knows what the optimal settings to get smooth and sharp image with remote viewing. I'm using the Slingbox Solo along with a Macbook with a 2.2 GHz Core 2 Duo and 2 GB of memory. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Lots of upload speeds. Lots and lots. Generally speaking, a 2mb+ connection will give you the best results. You'll have to have a matching download connection as well.

I have almost the same setup, with a Solo, 2Ghz MacBook with 2GB ram.

I have 1Mbps up from TimeWarner Roadrunner. I set my prefs manually. Bitrate at 800kbps. Frames at 20 or 30fps. VGA.

Also, it's a matter of preference. Some people prefer really sharp images but not as high frame rate. Some people prefer smooth frame rates but grainier images. It depends on what you are watching. Sports people might want smooth frame rates to see the action. But for a documentary, better stills are more important. If you have lots of upload speeds. You can do both.
