Hi, I posted a thread about this a while ago.  I am finally back in the UK and so hopefully I'll be able to sort this problem out now.

I keep getting; Error:0x8007274C

What can I do to stop this from happening??  I'm really desperate to get this sorted out, as I will be leaving abroad again soon.

I'm running the sllingbox through a NetgearDGB111G router

What is the slingbox doing when you get this error? Or what are you doing at the time?

The slingbox itself has two flashing lights which didn't used to flash.  The Network LED is flashing aswell as the "N" in the Sling logo.

I just rang the customer support in the UK this morning, and after they advised me to press the reset button they told me that the box has "deceased"!! And that I need another one!!

Has anyone been able to solve this problem? Or is the box really dead? I only managed to use it for three months (last October to January) and it died. What a rip off. They advised me that they could either send me a free slingbox classic, or I should purchase another model. Well, I said no to both options, as I won't be in the UK long enough to recieve my new box AND send them my old one (they said if I don't send them my old box to Germany then they will charge my card for the one they sent to me for free) and I really don't want to buy a newer model, as regrettably my trust in Sling Media products is fading.

If ANYONE can help solve this problem then I will be very greatful. I feel even worse as I have reccomended this product to my colleagues abroad, and I KNOW that this is going to happen to them aswell.

The slingbox classic is about 4+ years old. Things break and die all the time. You may have had your slingbox for only a few months, but it is definitely old. If sling is offering to replace the box for you and you choose not to accept it, that is your own fault.

Ok, first of all, thank you for taking the time to reply to and read my comments.

However, it really doesn't matter from a consumers stand point if a product is 4 or more years old (although the sling box was released in the UK in retail stores only about one and a half years ago) as I paid £100 for a something which has not provided what it is meant to do. THAT is why under European law they have to offer me a replacement.

I chose to decline the replacement as I WILL NOT be in the UK to recieve the new slingbox, and send them my defunct one. If I don't send them the broken slingbox after I recieve the new one then I will be charged for it. And I can only send them the broken one AFTER I recieve the new one as otherwise I will have to pay another £50 for postage to Germany.

Anyway, is there anyone out there that can help me out? Is the box really dead? I've been reading the forums and it seems many people have had this problem before - is there anyone that's managed to fix it?

Regards.

Have you tried to replace (for a test) the router ? With my PRO, switching off and then on after 10 minutes works well. There was a time when I had to do the reset quite often, but finally I came to the conclusion that it was a router's problem...Just borrow a friend's router and see what happens. By the way, (it could be interesting for you, too) I have an NTSC PRO box and I Sling with PAL signal (A/V and tuner) without problems! If you want, you can send me PM's.

I believe you may be correct that it is my Linksys BEFSR81  router which I purchased in Dec 2000

I last upgraded firmware to 2.44.2 in November 2002

There is a 2.45.10 firmware upgrade but I get a file pattern error whenever I try to upgrade firmware. Linksys tech support wanted me to make so many changes to my computer that I decided to just purchase another router which I ordered today from Amazon.

When I returned from my trip I had to unplug the router to reboot it in order to get an internet connection so I am pretty sure my slingbox problem while I was away was a router problem?

I'll let you know when i receive the new router
