I have a Slingbox Pro at a relative's home in the US. I live in Dominica but the problem I have happens even when I am in the US and have excellent bandwidth. I have had my box for over a year.

Every time I log on to my Slingbox my kbps fluctuates from over 800 down to 100 and sometimes stops completely. The picture and sound drop out at around 107 kbps.

When I first got my Slingbox it didn't seem to have this problem. My relative had to hook up a new computer to it and I have switched to a MacBook.

Any ideas on what my problem is? I thought it might have something to do with the new computer my relative hooked up to the Slingbox.

 Thanks.

Check your download speed, it might be that your connection isn't "stable" so that is causing it to flucate. You could also have your family member unplug the sling/router/modem and see if just by restarting those it clears up your issues.

i've had similar problems and talked with the sling support and these really cleared up my problems...
make sure your routers firmware is up to date. mine wasn't, updated and bingo, smooth for hours on end..
also skiswm is pretty spot on, when i go have issues i just call home and have them unplug and replug, works great for a few weeks then do it again. just kidna like restarting a comptuer, you dont lave that running for months at a time...at least i hope

I have had the same issue for about a year. It seems ever since updating the software and firmware. Restarting the devices does nothing and sling support has been very unhelpful. I am very disappointed in their lack of ownership of the issue. They just simply left it as it was my problem...

I have seen others with the same issue too. It is almost unusable... sad

Arthur, what have you done so far to fix your problems? Have you unplugged/restarted everything? Also how's your box connected (wireless, wired, powerline). Secondly, have you checked your settings on Slingplayer? See what you have it set at...you could have issues if you have it set at HD or 640x480 etc (settings-slingplayer options-encoding). If you have it set to high and your upload speed can't handle it you'll have issues with your Slingbox.
