I purchased my slingcatcher today in a store and this this works great, just as promised. I have a question though...I am trying to program the remote so that it can control my TV (power, volume, source...). The user guide tells me to go to the settings screen. The setting screen tells me to go to the web site (support.slingmedia.com). There, there is no info for the slingcatcher yet as it is not yet released. Does anyone have any info or do I need to wait until Thursday?

I've tried a crap load of button combos and can't get the remote into a program mode. No mention of it in the guide either.

I just bought a Slingcatcher at Best Buy and you program the remote by pressing the DOWN arrow and ENTER key at the same time for 5 seconds. The slingbox icon will light up. You then press and release the key you want to program (VOL +, VOL -, Power, Input) and then you take the remote control from your TV, aim it at the front of the slingcatcher remote and push the cooresponding button. The slingcatcher remote light will blink 3 times if programming was successful. It will blink 10 times if it was not successful. In either case, the light will return to solid and then you can push another key you want to program and then repeat the same steps again for each key.

Thanks, I will try that tonight. How do you get out of programming mode? Just hit the sling botton?

You get out of programming mode by waiting 25 seconds for the light to turn off. Don't push any buttons. All these instructions are in the setup portion of the slingcatcher GUI. There is a section for programming the remote that tells you everything as well.

Really? I tried to go into Settings -> remote and it just gave me a screen pointing me to their web site... Are you on a different screen?
I also need to figure out how to make full use the a device's remote control (on the slingbox side). When I press OPT, I just get a few basic commands. I can't seem to be able to see all the buttons from the device's remote. Although it works fine in slingPlayer. (eg, I can't turn on the cable box, I have no option for power via SlingCatcher...

Actually, I can't remember anymore ;) I'll have to check again when I get home. I thought there was just one place. I was just so impressed with it ysterday that I ended up watching TV (from my home town) all evening and did little exploring. I can't wait to try the projector, but I don't think the software is live just yet.

Greatest gadget (beside my wifi radio) I ever owned !

Go to Settings, then REMOTE, then to the right is PROGRAM YOUR REMOTE.

That page should cover all of what you need to program it, it is pretty easy.

@WYSIWYG - Not sure if your setup on the remote side is the same as mine, but the power button on the SC remote gives me the option to power down the remote SB or the SC.

@Jmartz - What down button? Nav (below OK)down arrow+ENTER (bottom right?) - this does not work. Neither does Vol/Page/Channel + Enter - I call shenanigans.
@WYSIWYG - I'm seeing what you're seeing - redirect to the support page

jtonforce, it's the down + OK button (centre one). This worked fine for me.
And yes, I checked again, all I see is the redirect to the support page. No instrunctions.

As for the remote options for the cable box, I'm trying to control a "Freebox" ADSL2+ box in france. (quite common over there). No problem controlling it with the software. However, the options in the OPT screen, don't give me anything I want.

However, controlling a "Numericable" cable box in France works fine. At least I have the power button.

I just wish you could display the remote control and assign your own shortcuts. I'm sure it is possible, just not documented yet.

How do you add more commands to show up when pressing OPT? For the freebox (French ADSL2 box), all of them show up as "Custom".

Oh those other OPT functions in the GUI viewing window?
Can I choose an advanced option(res change?) - no

where is the official documents about this?

how did you figure out what to push, when there is not anything in public?

and my slingcatcher GUI doesn't say anything, it says check the website.

you must have a differnt firmware then I have. (i just updated)

I have the latest firmware 1.0.0.30
I didn't see any documentation on this. Just tried out what I thought was a logical way to implement this feature of reprogramming the color buttons.
