did you get it to work?
Categories: Smartphone / PocketPC
I have been a Treo and Sling owner since they were invented, and the Treo 750 worked perfectly. I just got a new Treo Pro, however, and there is a major bug involved. The TV screen picture is a quarter of the size of the screen of the TreoPro. The program itself seems to know the screen is larger... in other words, the "remote control" buttons are correctly placed at the bottom of the TreoPro screen. It's where the TV image appears. Any idea when there'll be a fix for this? I've already changed the resolution settings, FYI.
Nope. I heard back from Sling... the email sort of said "well, you got a new fancy phone because you wanted a cool new gadget, but we never promised we'd work on all phones, and we (Sling employees) aren't allowed to guess on the possible availability of future updates."
Keep in mind that it "technically" works... but the TV picture is teeny-tiny. About half the size of what the image was on my TREO 750. Ironically, the reason I even GOT the Pro was to get a better picture on my SlingPlayer. Ugh. Maybe I need to look into other options. I know there are now generic internet media stream vehicles... but I'm not sure if they'd work my TiVo as well. Hmmm... I'll investigate and post my findings.
This sucks massively. The technical support representatives that I contacted told me to check the Sling list of "approved" devices. If my phone (the Treo Pro) was not on that list then "too bad" "so sad" but it won't work. Hopefully Sling will read these posts and fix the problem ASAP. If the problem is the resolution on the phone, then Sling must realize that all new phones are going to have this higher resolution so they should fix the problem ASAP.
I recommend you all look at the Treo 800w page. The issue is the 320x320 screen resolution. Megazone has posted a few comments about what Sling is doing. Basically, there moving ridiculously slow(as is typical for them) since the Treo 800w has been out for months, but they expect a release by the end of the year which supports it.
It's OK that some glitchs appear when a new product arrive, despite the fact that I have moved to the Treo Pro for the exact same reasons, a faster connection and a bigger sreen, but it will be nice of SlingMedia an open mind actitude to embrace the change and enlarge the flexibility of their products.
