I have a very old VCR player with even older VHS tapes. I would like to view the tapes via my Slingbox solo. So I disconnected the HDTV cable box and connected the red-white-yellow from VCR out to Slingbox red-white-yellow-input. On my sling player, I get the "no video signal detected" , but I do have sound.

Two things to try. Make sure the cables are plugged all the way in if they are try another cable. Make sure your channel on the VCR output is selected to channel 3 and 4 and it matches on your SB.

Make sure to configure the Composite input on the Solo. You can't just switch out the cables on the back without first configuring, then selecting, the Composite video input on the slingplayer software. Slingplayer is probably still displaying what is connected to the component jacks (which in this case is nothing)

Thanks, that was the solution. I had never config'ed the box before. It took me a while to get the password in order to test your advice.
