SELL YOUR SLINGBOXES cause they're NOT going to support ANDROID !!!!!! Here's the message I got from SlingMedia Support when I asked the question....How sad !!!
Thank you for contacting Sling Media Technical Support.
As we understand, you want to know if the Slingbox will support the Android Mobile devices any time soon. We will be more than willing to assist you.
Android is a software platform and operating system for mobile devices, based on the Linux operating system, developed by Google and later the Open Handset Alliance. It allows developers to write managed code in a Java-like language that utilizes Google-developed Java libraries, but does not support programs developed in native code.
Most of the supported cell phones run on Windows OS. Since Android runs on Linux OS, it is not compatible with the SlingPlayer. Therefore, Slingbox will not support it and we do not know if it will be supported any time soon.
If you require further assistance, feel free to visit Sling Media Support - Support or contact us at 1-877-GO-SLING (877-467-5464) Monday through Sunday 7am-7pm Pacific Time.

when will we see sling mobile for google's new operating system, android? i have the new tmobile g1 and want slingbox but not until i can use it on my cell phone, that's the only reason i want slingbox. bpb 11/14/08
I find the comment "Most of the supported cell phones run on Windows OS" to be stupid since SPM is out for Blackberry, iPhone/iPod, PalmOS and Symbian and yes, Windows Mobile. Out of the above list, I would say Windows Mobile is the MINORITY installed base.
Considering that Sling has a plugin for browsers on Windows PCs as well as support for all these different mobile platforms, their response above is lame at best... The future of handsets will be Linux based (Android, Palm WebOS) and Sling/Echostar needs to get in the game or they might as well consider the Slingbox a dead product (even before the DISH922 Receiver comes out with the Slingbox built-in)....
ARE YOU SERIOUS!!?!?!?!?! SLING you have REALLY REALLY REALLY let us down. I hope that is not true... that is the most BS excuse i have ever herd. Can someone please verify this is true? MAC is based on linux, how come they get an app. This is complete BS and a huge mistake on Slings part. Sure sling, go ahead and make an app for the iPhone, blow tons of money and NOT have it work over 3G. Very, Very disappointed...
It won't take long for Android users to outnumber iPhone users. The open platform and multiple carriers makes this inevitable.
It's possible to port the app to Android. Maybe not easy but 100% definitely possible.
If Sling actually ignores Android, they are missing out on a lot of $$$. The sooner they bring it to market the better (more $$$). Strategically there is no reason to delay.
Disclaimer: I don't own an Android or iPhone.
I just bought the Motorola Droid on Thursday. I was looking forward to loading SlingPlayer on it. I came here to check out if I could. How disappointing.

Good news sort of, I have been informed by another company that they are working on a app for both Blackberry and Android and might be out in about perhps in before Q2 in 2010.
Software will support Windows, Linux, and Mac platforms. It's not Sling but I think for those looking for Android they won't mind.
