I have two Tivo DVRs in the same room – a standard Tivo is assigned a Remote Address of “1” and a DirecTV Tivo is assigned a Remote Address of “2” such that the IR signals do not conflict.

The standard Tivo is installed/connected to my Slingbox AV with its Remote Address of “1” having been input during installation and it works fantastic at home and on the road.  It is amazing.

My Versions Are (I do not want to update any versions – the system works fantastic now and it is not broken):

. . . Slingplayer . . . . 1.5.0.325

. . . Hardware . . . . . 1.2.1

. . . IR Blaster . . . . . 2

. . . Firmware . . . . . 1.0.17

From time to time I have concluded that I would like to view the DirecTV Tivo on the road.  I can use a manual switch box such that I can select between the S-video and audio outputs of the Tivos to go to the Slingbox AV inputs before leaving home.  The IR blaster is already located such that it can be “seen” by both Tivos.  That leaves only the Remote Address change – HOW!

I need to tell the Sling Player/Slingbox AV to use the Remote Address of “2”.  I have looked at SBCore.ini (I edited that “ini” such that the “upgrade to player 2” message no longer appears) but I do not understand the “lingo” as to whether a change is possible there OR in the Sling Player’s properties edit.  Is there a simple way to do this like changing something in an “ini” file or doing a configuration edit of some kind without having to redo setup?

Thanks for any assist on this.

Gotta rerun setup. It's stored in the SlingBox, not the player.

The easier solution would be to connect 1 box to Svid and the other to composite (yellow video). Split the audio and connect both. You will have to have the box you're not watching turned off while viewing the other.

Slinging Tivo HD, Tivo S2, and OTA from a Pro HD, Tivo HD from a Pro, Tivo HD from a Solo, and Humax DRT800 from a Classic to iPhone, Dell Inspiron 1520 with Sprint EVDO, and a SlingCatcher over Mi-Connection cable with 2Mbps upload.

ryandh -
Thanks for identifying the location of the Tivo Remote Address as being on the Slingbox and not the player - I sure wish it had been the easy route of a quick change to a player file. Actually, the Svid/Audio cable switch box for the two Tivos' inputs to the Slingbox works the best for me as the two Tivos must be ON 24/7 to do their job so without that switch I would have to disconnect cables to achieve the "turned off box" result. Also, as it turns out, it appears to be easier and maybe faster to just go to the Tivos themselves and flip their Remote Addresses between them vs. rerunning the Slingbox Setup. So, the Slingbox would always be signaling to the Remote Address "1" but I would "flip" the Tivo boxes Remote Addresses and throw the switch and then out the door I go. Granted, it is all manual to select which Tivo I want to watch away from home via the Slingbox AV before leaving.

Why do the Tivos have to be on? They'll record in standby.

I may not fully understand your recommendation of having both the Tivos plugged into the Slingbox AV at the same time. As I understand it, one of the Tivos must be off or in Standby all the time to avoid "shorting the signals" so to say for the whole system - not just the Slingbox. Standby does not appear to be an option for us since the TV is our primary viewing and we "flip" between the two Tivos for watching recorded shows constantly (going into Standby adds more steps and being almost 70 we do not need more steps). For us, viewing through the Slingbox is just secondary for away from home.

Effectively, it now appears that the long-range solution to this is a second Slingbox (Classic, AV, or Solo) or a changeover to a Pro.

OK, I thought no one was viewing at home while you were away..
