OK, although I am not sure what you find too technical?

On the on-screen remote there is a Menu button at the top, if you tap on that the bottom line is called 'Custom' and that offers a further drop down list of Custom 10, Custom 11....   All I said was that I had put those buttons (A,B,C,D..) onto those Custom options, as the buttons do not exist on the generic remote.

Make sense ?

Sorry, what don't you understand about that ?  Or have you read the article and decided it is too technical ?

And is it just the Channel Up/Down not working ?
