Installing now....

You might need to restart your box for the software update to work.

For the last 10 minutes I was getting weird issues, so I restarted my box and player and got the update notice.

I was told that the changelog was on the website page where you can download updatesm but I never saw them. If you see my post earlier, you will see that I did post the channge log I got from support: "Improved video quality Hybrid tuning support for the Slingbox PRO-HD Online Slingbox registration added; plus users can store their Slingbox ID online for easy access Improved Slingbox Setup Assistant: New setup and configuration screens are streamlined and easier to use Users can rapidly cycle between Fullscreen (4:3), Widescreen (16:9), Letterbox, Windowbox, Pillarbox modes Show / Hide player controls with one-click toggle"
Those are the feature highlights for the latest SlingPlayer release, but aren't specific in detailing changes in a particular firmware release. And, no offense, but I don't report heresay in the SlingCommunity news blog. We try to make sure that whatever we report is 100% fact checked and true, unless specifically noted as a rumor.

all the upgrade did for me was make a bad situation even worse. i cannot even connect to the slingbox. first i get a message telling me it cannot open the configuration file, and i get a gray screen with the message "unable to establish a connection to your slingbox". this is perfect. i feel like telling them exactly how i feel in no uncertain terms. the problem is that it will fall on some poor shmuck like me to take the call. the people who run slingmedia need to get an earful about how bad these products really are. i will never buy ANYTHING from this company ever again. there is absolutely nothing they can do at this point to make me happy except to go out of business because of their incompetence.

Hi tjb099,

If you are next to your Slingbox, maybe you can try reflashing it with the current or previous firmware. The latest update didn't cause the kind of damage you got on your system on my end. Something must have gone wrong during the whole process or maybe you got a faulty unit.
I wasn't satisfied with the latest fw, so i was able to downgrade as well. Now it's back to it's old self.

Maybe it's worth trying reflashing your box. It may not be bricked yet.

Regards

Can you provide a detail how to roll back to the previous FW ?????

The Hex Editing and all the things...

Thanks in advance.

PD I already got the old FW.

Has anyone that has updated to 1.3.80 gotten it to work WITHOUT any issues?
Especially not having the pixalation issues in SD that some have reported here.

SD content looks the same. I'm able to stream HD at a lower bandwidth now too.

No problems with the new firmware for me. Actually this firmware install was the most smoothest for me so far. Previously I had to re-start the installs a few times before they went through.

Download this already modified file and upload it using Slingplayer 1.5 (not 2.0).

The actual hex edit procedure is described here, but you don't need to do that with the file provided above.

I take no responsability in case of failure or bricked slingbox.

After working with my entire network set up for most of the evening, i was able to finally restore connectivity to the sb. i think the actiontec router i am forced to use is a major part of my problem. i still cannot enable remote viewing, but at least it is not the total loss i feared. however, once again i have had to invest more of my personal time on something that should be a slam dunk to set up. what aggravates me most is the no one in the 3-ring circus i find myself in the midst of will admit their role! slingmedia, actiontec and verizon all point to each other as to the source of the problem. how convenient.

July 3, 2009 9:13 AM

In the past I have used an Actiontec box from Verizon just as a modem and I used a Netgear FR328 router for routing. I had no problems with such a setup. But, things may be different now.

I have an OLD version of the slingplayer that allows you to downgrade to any version of firmware. Much easier than the hex editing.

Here it is.

Is this safe ?????????????

Here is a comparison of two HD images captured before & after the firmware update.

I captured the old image a few weeks ago to compare HDTV & TivoHD, but it came in handy for the firmware comparison.

It does look the screen capture looks better on the old image, but it may just be the TV network broadcasting at different bitrate.

Safer than someone who doesn't know what he is doing, messing with a hex editor.

Wicked difference.

does anyone have a link to just the firmware file or the package that contains it? I have spent the better portion of 3 hours trying to find it and talking to support they tald me I have to pay the $30 just to get this firmware.

I am angry because they effectively bricked my slingbox and want me to pay to unbrick.

If you're looking for the unaltered previous fw, here it is :

http://iptv.free.fr/slingbox_fw_archive/pro-hd/SbPbProHdFwV1_2_100HwV1_1_0Current.bin

Use Gumbochief's Slingplayer with this one.

If you want the hex edited version it's here :

http://iptv.free.fr/slingbox_fw_archive/pro-hd_1.2.100_rollback_hex_edit/SbPbProHdFwV1_2_100HwV1_1_0Current.bin

For use with Slingplayer 1.5
