Everything was working just fine.  Updated Slingplayer software (2.0.3.508) and updated Slingbox Pro firmware (1.3.36),  now there's no audio.  Any suggestions?  (Checked all of the basics already, e.g. audio cables are hooked up correctly, cable box is not muted, reset Slingbox, etc.)

Thanks for your help!

You might try a different input or a factory reset.

Slinging Tivo HD, Tivo S2, and OTA from a Pro HD, Tivo HD from a Pro, Tivo HD from a Solo, and Humax DRT800 from a Classic to iPhone, Dell Inspiron 1520 with Sprint EVDO, and a SlingCatcher over Mi-Connection cable with 2Mbps upload.

Tried them both with no luck. Is anyone else having this issue? Thanks.

Have you tried the coax input? Either direct cable or connecting the cable box to it?

I assume the cable box is connected to a TV and is getting sound still?

You might rerun the firmware, it will reload it and reboot.

I'll try the firmware install again - any idea how to do that? Otherwise I dont think I will even bother with the coax set-up becuase then whats the point of having HD connect if I cant use it. It must be a firmware issue if it occurred right after the update, dont you think? Thanks for your help ryandh.

I am just wondering.
When you go to 'settings/setup assistant'. Do you see a picture with audio?
In the little window up on the left hand corner of the screen. make sure hte speaker is not set to mute and the slide is in the middle. If you hear audio then click on exit. It may take about 1 or 2 minutes to exit the setup window and go back to the main screen. So don't force it.

I know this is not much help to you. But
What soundcard are you using?
I have a desktop with Creative XFI and 4 laptops with SigmaTel onboard sound chips.
They are all working fine since I upgraded on all 5 machines.
My Operating system is Windows Vista Ulimate 32 bit on the desktop and Windows Vista Uliitmate 64 bit on the 4 laptops.

did you figure this out. i am having the exact same problem. after upgrade to software on slingbox pro, my audio is just barely there with all setting cranked.

@olisling I don't know what your source is but is it possible it is not sending much volume to the SLingbox? Some DVR's have a volume control of their own.

If not. Do a hard reset, re-run setup and pay attention to the volume control and settings in the setup program. See if you can move the volume up there.

  • When asking for setup help please include whether you are using a PC or Mac and
  • if you are using the Standalone Slingplayer or the web based setup program.

it is a digital cable box from comcast in indianapolis. i have the hd cable in the hd port and a serial with the left and right audio in the in 2. i have configured both and can get video on both but only faint audio on the hd. when i unplug the audio cables from the comcast box i can hear the expected buzz after the delay so i think it is the output on the cable box but i see no way of altering that and my real complaint is i had a functioning slingbox until i was harassed into a software upgrade that left me screwed. i could pay $30 for tech support that would likely end with them saying they don't support problems from the provider....wew, thanks for the suggestion. i will reset later and see it that helps.

did the 10-second reset and configured the component input. video and controls work fine but the moment it comes up in the little screen the audio is so quiet that only a trace can be heard with both the laptop and slider controls at 100%.

OK HERE WAS THE FIX. on the comcast motorola box you have to hit the menu button twice to enter the DVR control menu, go to audio controls and change a setting called optimal stereo from no to yes. Not sure what exactly that all means but it fixed my problem and it may help someone else.

I have similar problem. My sling box is connected thru coax. i have video but no audio. I've been going over all settup settings more than once and none of them give me new options that could solve the problem. I have SlingBox Pro with HD capabilities.
The picture quality is great. The sound is not there. Any suggestions?
I tryed to verify if there is any sound coming from sling box by connecting the AV to the TV but I did not get sound or image. What am I doing wrong?
    Please, any suggestions?

    Im having the same problem

    Same problem "over here"!
What is wrong with the newest firmware- a/o player-update?
At home my "Solo" works just fine...though since the updates I have to reboot the box once a week, not so funny! BUT with "Internet-Looking" (abroad) the video became choppy and the audio very poor!
What can I do to get it work again? How do I downgrade everything again?
