This is a major headache. I have two slingbox's. One works as advertised, the other would go offline every other day and need to be rebooted. I got fed up and replaced the faulty unit, the new one only goes offline once a week now. F%$##!!
Error: 0x92360162
Context: 20
Operation:110
Slingbox HD PRo
It was working flawlessly for over a year and all of a sudden this week I get this error. Reset router, tried different computers, tried my iPhone (no firewall/AV), changed cables/ports. The network light is on in front of the slingbox but it gets stuck at 'Connecting' then errors out. I've reset the Slingbox and still no go. I can't use the assistant because it doesn't see the slingbox.
Help?
Thanks
Hello all,
I've been using Slingbox for more than a year and have a Slingbox in two cities that I've been watching from Belgium. In 14 months of experience, I've learned a couple of important lessons:
1. There are a lot of people who travel enough or are expats that REALLY like
being able to access their home programming when away. So, this technology
really does have a market
2. That the basic technology underlying Slingbox can work (although you can't
always rely on it).
3. That if you're not willing to pay extra for technical support, the folks
who own Slingbox don't give a rats-ass about you once you shell out the
initial purchase price of the hardware.
This is the second time that I've had this specific 0x92360162 error on each of my two Slingboxes. Each time the root cause probably had something to do with the router being unplugged or reset.
I was fortunate enough to have one Slingbox located in my brother's house, so he could troubleshoot locally. We ended up having to pay Slingbox a technical support fee just to find out what the problem was, and were able to fix it by re-setting the entire damn connection and slingbox profile . . . something you have to be directly connected into the local network to do. The second instance has just occured and don't think I'll be able to do anything about this one since the person on site has a Mac and when trying to re-set the box gets the message that the set up software requires that the computer be running XP or Vista.
Naturally, there's nothing on this help forum that will provide any solutions or ideas I could pursue, and am debating whether it's worth another $100 to get technical support.
I think the moral of the story is that lack of competition is not a good thing. There must be someone out there who offers a competitive product or technology. Any suggestions?
The new software update... for me at least .. is bugged. I can download and run 2.0.3.508 but if I update to the new version (and it keeps asking me to) then the slingbox cannot connect.
For those having problems connecting, I suggest that you just download the old version - it works for me !
I had worry-free use of my Pro-HD for almost 1 year.
a few months ago, SlingPlayer for Mac started indicating that I was connected to the SlingBox, but the stream wouldn't start and the remote never appeared. I can't load the settings in the Setup Assistant because it can't connect to the SlingBox.
a reboot or reset of the SlingBox would temporarily fix the problem, but after 2 or 3 days it would happen again.
after I paid for extended care, they wanted me to test the unit on another network. I felt that this was unreasonable since I don't have access to another network and it would also take a few days to see if the problem would be replicated and this would be extremely inconvenient. also, reboots of my DSL modem and my AirPort router had no effect on this issue.
the company finally sent me a replacement unit and it worked fine for close to 1 week before the same problem occurred. I thought perhaps the latest firmware update would fix it, but now this one still is behaving just like the last one.
IMHO, there needs to be a way to reboot the SlingBox remotely or on a schedule.
I'm out of town and there is nothing that the support folks can do to help until I'm back at home with the network and SlingBox. I am going to test my power supply and also try moving the SlingBox's network cable to a hub inserted between my DSL modem and my AirPort Extreme router to see if it helps. I do not think that the problem is with my router, as the support people suggest, since I am using manual configurations without DHCP or UPnP and since rebooting my network devices did not resolve anything. I think it is a problem with the SlingBox firmware.
