Please help.

I just installed my Slingbox-Pro that I got from craigslist.

It works fine and all after installation.

My setup is:

Slingbox Pro SB200-100

DirecTV satellite with D10 receiver

San Francisco Bay Area

The issue I have is when I  change channels from either the Slingbox on my PC or DirecTV receiver directly, it also changes the channel on the other side, i.e. watching on pc, change channels online, channel on TV also changes.

I was in the impression that this are separately controlled.

Please HELP...

Thanks.

Um no,then you misunderstood. If you only have one directv box being used as a source for both a local tv as well as the slingbox remote users; of course when one changes the other will be effected.

When using a decoder box (such as a cable box or satelllite receiver), the only way to have the slignbox work independantly is to use a seperate dedicated unit for the slignbox itself.

The exception to this rule is if you are using basic cable, expanded basic cable or OTA antenna feeds as the input spurce. The slingbox pro and slingbox pro HD models incoporate a built in tuner (BTW, only the slignbox pro HD has the ATSC HD tuner. In this senario, the slingbox cab be ran independantly without any additional equipment involved.

Oh bummer. I guess I'll have to setup my slingbox pro to my other room with the spare DTV box and run more friggin cat5 cable to conect.
I suppose it[s the same for comcast digital cable huh, it does have the box too.
Thanks for the reply dude.

Yup, it's the same for comcast digital cable seeing that a cable box must be used.

BTW:
You cab use a slinglink or equivelant power line device if you do not wish to run a cat5 to the slingbox location.

Thanks dude.

Just ran some 18ft of cat5 cable, it works great so far since last night.
For now I get the error message from http://watch.slingbox.com/sling_player:

We're sorry, but something went wrong.
We've been notified about this issue and we'll take a look at it shortly.

Hopefull it gets better soon.
