The title says it all.  Upgraded to 2.0.4.521 and I lost my FIOS skinned remote.  All I have is the lame Motorola and Set-top-box Remote (basic) available in the drop down.  Any idea how to get the FIOS skin back?

This is the one I am talking about -->  http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2017/2068103902_0af7e281e0.jpg?v=0

Unlike in pre-V2.04 where the 'skins' were all held locally and you could copy them across, in the latest SlingPlayer versions SlingMedia hold them all centrally and just upload the required 'skin' when you run the Setup routine. So it might be worth re-running the Setup routine and see if the new 'skin' re-appears in the menu.

I understand what you're saying Alan but is there a way to force a differant skin? Where does the

As I said in my post, these are all held centrally by SlingMedia. Their 'artists' have produced skins for the most popular remotes (TIVO, Sky...) but for many of the less popular remotes they just use a generic skin. Now when you run the setup and tell the Slingbox what A/V device you have installed it 'phones home' and downloads the appropriate codes for the remote and, if available, the right skin. So you have absolutely no control over this. In your case, either they have removed the skin (unlikely) or in the latest update they messed up the link between the device you entered and the correct skin. So all you can do is phone support and ask them to look for it. That will cost you $30 :-)

Personally I use the generic skins and custom remotes anyway as it allows me to change the button mapping to my specific requirements.

BTW, this is all purely guesswork as Slingmedia have steadfastly refused to answer any questions I have asked about working with Remotes.

Thanks Alan, because I wasn't registered when I typed my post, only the first line made it into the post so it missed the context. For the sake of completeness here's the rest...

I have an older Slingbox Pro (US version) which I purchased in the US back in 2006 before it was available in the UK.
I use it at home in the UK where it's connected to my Sky HD satellite box. This is a problem as the firmware for the US Slingbox Pro (or any US spec Sligbox) does not support any of the UK Sky boxes (Sky/Sky+/SkyHD). You can get around this by selecting a "Satellite" source and "Other" device then using the "S1847" code set. So now you can control the basic functions of the Sky HD box from your Slingplayer client. However you can't control the PVR functions, the colour button functions or the information/text buttons.

Now with the old V1.x software you could use the Sky+/HD remote "skin" to add these functions but not with V2.x

It's not a huge problem but is a backward step for me.

If anyone knows of a workaround I'd be delighted to try it.

Cheers

Mark

I tried re-running the setup but no dice. Its interesting because the slingbox I have connected to a DirecTV box does have the DirecTV remote.

Sorry for the delay but I thought I had already replied to this message, but obviouisly not.  I have an identical setup, a US Slingbox driven by a Sky+HD box, and I have produced a Custom Remote to allow the use of all the functions.  Just PM me with your E-Mail address and I will send the files to you.
