looking to purchase. have a HDVR with comcast and a HD Dell Studio computer. Wondering which slingbox to purchase. Will be using primarily on the road (airline pilot typically 1000 of miles from home) for football and hockey games. Any help would be appreciated. Also, is there any other equipment (cables etc) that also need to be purchased along with the slingbox. The HDVR will be the only component hooked up to the box. Thanks

It all depends on what kind of upload speeds you'll be sending from your Comcast connection and what the download speeds you'll be getting where you'll be watching it from. In my opinion the slingbox pro, unless you are getting some really high upload speeds and download speeds on the receiving end, is overkill when using it remotely. The solo will do the job. Get a set of component cables, get another set to bypass it to the TV and you'll be good to go. Others might tell you to go for the pro, but from my experience in seeing a friends slingbox pro stream remotely, any streaming under 1mb has a small improvement in picture quality over the solo, but not enough to justify the extra cost.

With the solo you can bypass the TV? Could that be the answer to this problem?

I have a slingbox pro hd and a solo. Solo is your best bet for computer/remote viewing. Pro HD is best if you are viewing on your HDTV....or you have multiple inputs you'd like to sling.

Not using my solo now...Interested?
