Slingbox A/V: Problems with Scientific Atlantic 8300 HD to Slingbox and HDTV

Hi, here's how I set this up. I have the SA8300 (cable box) outputs going to my HD TV via an HDMI cable and Optical Audio out. I have also used the Composite outs to go to the Slingbox. So the cable box has two outputs connected. I didn't know if that would work, but when I tested it it did. But what I found out is if I turn off the HDTV I'll get this error message from the cable box on my Slingbox viewer: "Your TV does not allow display of this program through the DVI input source. Please choose another TV source." Which is kind of odd since when I'm running slingbox only, it's not really going through the DVI at all. Two solutions fix it on my computer: 1) Leaving the HDTV on 2) unplugging the HDMI cable from the cable box Both of these are not very convenient. I don't want to waste electricity or have to change cables. I also think this might work which I haven't tried 3) hook my HDTV up via composite cables Which I would rather not do to keep my HDMI for better quality. So if anyone has any...

BT Vision codes

Hi, I was an early adopter of the Slingbox AV (US version) and have been using it in UK with a Sky+ box for more than a year quite happily. However I'm having to move from Sky+ to BT Vision but do not have a clue as to what code to use for this box. Has anyone on the forums had any luck with this yet? Thanks, Lee

Can't Find SB A/V on lan with setup assistant.. however can connect directly with ip

Hi, I've got a SB A/V on a 192.168.1.x network the SB obtained the DHCP ip of .203 My macbook pro obtained ip .202 now when i run the slingplayer setup utility.. it says can't find any slingboxes on the network. when i cancel out of the setup assistant, and go to the slingbox menu in slingplayer and down to get info.. it will allow me to connect to the sb via entering in ip addres and port 5001. i can connect to the sb in this way on my lan, however when i'm outside the lan.. i can't even connect via ip address of my router's wan ip. (with portforwarding set up correctly.) i'd like to be able to set a static ip for the sb however being as the setup utility doesn't find the sb on the local lan.. it won't let me get to network settings. anyone have any ideas? it used to work a year or so ago.. without any problems.. i've even tried resetting the sb with no change in symptoms.

Freezing Up! After about two minutes.

What is the deal here? Ever since I upgraded to 2.0 the picure is lousey and it freezes after a couple of minutes. Every time. The real kicker is that I can view a sling box in one home with a bad analog connection and it doesnt freeze on me, but when I try to hookup to my home (which uses digital) from a remote location its the one that freezes up on me. So it cant be the router that I currently use for remote viewing because I can see at least one sling box with any freezing. Anybody have any ideas. Both slingbox locations have all the updates. I really like the new features, now it it would only give me a decent picture without freezing.

Connecting Remotely and WRT54GL

Hello, I am having a doozy of a time setting up my slingbox to work remotely. I am able to view it from home on my local network but not away. This is what I have tried: 1. I allowed the slingbox to automatically be setup through the automatic configuration tool. No go. 2. I set it up manually. Initially I kept the 192.68.1.249 IP but I did not see it in my dHCP table, so I changed it to .105 and still did not see it in my DHCP table. I tried to connect remotely - no go. 3. I reset my slingbox and went through the automatic setup. Success - I could now see the IP in my DHCP table (.103) but when I went to change the name of the box AND also the IP inside the configuration menu, I could no longer see the slingbox in my DHCP table. Why I had to change the IP was because in my DHCP table it was listed as .103 but in the sling itself, it says its IP address was .255. I wouldn't have changed anything but when I went to setup the port forwarding (which by the...
