I have Slingplayer v1.0.10 (the latest one; running on Mac os 10.3.9). It worked fine, but now when I run it, I get a window that says "Oh no! Your copy of SlingPlayer has Expired! But don't worry, there's a new version available". It takes me to a website that has the same version on it. What's going on?!? Mike

How I recorded a Slingbox stream on my Mac mini

I have a SlingCatcher and a Mac mini and I've been looking for ways to schedule recordings of my Slingbox stream. Ideally, I'd hook up the Slingbox to a DVR and watch the DVR using SlingCatcher, but in my case, this is not feasible because DVRs are not available where my Slingbox is located (Hong Kong). I read that some have done this using SlingPlayer for Mac and a screen capture utility, but this only allows recording of a live feed, whereas I'm interested primarily in scheduled recording (e.g. every weekday at 4:30AM). Perhaps this is a niche, but I found quite a few posts (in this forum and others) where people want to do this, dating back to 2007, so I thought I'd shared how I did it. My setup: - SlingCatcher - Mac mini - Elgato EyeTV 250 Plus First, if you aren't familiar with the EyeTV 250 Plus, it is essentially a USB accessory that turns your Mac into a TiVo. One nifty feature of the EyeTV 250 Plus is that it can take S-Video or Composite (red/white/yellow) as input. More information at: http://www.elgato.com/elgato/na/mainmenu/products/250plus/product1.en.html It took a bit of trial-and-error but I hope the steps below will...

SlingPlayer has expired

SlingPlayer worked fine last night. Woke up this morning and fired it up and got the message that SlingPlayer had expired - that I'd have to download a newer version. After clicking OK, it took me to the download page with the same version listed that I had. Downloaded it anyway. But when I go to run it, I get the EULA, and then it craps out. I did update to 10.6.2 yesterday, but it worked last night. I think I'm more than three months out, but if they pitch me any crap when I call after work today, they can take this thing and shove it.

SlingPlayer Screen Flickering Issue with Snow Leopard

Ever since I've upgraded to Snow Leopard I get these intermittent flickers in approximately every 5-10 minutes of watching. I thought the new version 1.0.10 would solve this issue, but no cigar so far. Has anyone else experience this? I've access the same Slingbox through PC, and I will not have these flickering issues, therefore I know it's not the Slingbox that's having the issue, but the compatibility issue between SlingPlayer and OS X 10.6.x. .10 1.0.10 1.0.10

Watching remotely from PowerBook G4

Is there any way to watch tv on my Slingbox Pro HD remotely using a Power PC-based Mac with the Tiger operating system? When I try to watch via the online viewer, I get the message that the web-based slingplayer only works with Intel-based Macs using Leopard. Can't I somehow access my slingbox from overseas by installing a software rather than watching via the web-based player? Or am I going to have to get a new computer or dish out another few hundred for a slingcatcher?

resolution of video is terrible; what to do?

I'm using a Slingbx AV connected to a Motorola cable box (Comcast cable). Even on my internal LAN (I have the latest Apple Extreme N router, with my desktop connected to it via an ethernet cord), the slingbox stream is very blocky (pixelated). I have a screengrab of what it looks like but can't seem to figure out how to attach it here. Is this normal, or should the quality be better? Does anyone have a screengrab of what it should look like (and/or can tell me how to attach mine here)? thanks, Mike

New version of SlingPlayer (1.0.10) is out

A new version (1.0.10) is out for the Mac - see http://support.slingbox.com/go/dl-mac-desktop I've run this on Snow Leopard and have found no problems. I have two Classics in the UK, and one AV and one SB Pro in the US. Only the SB Pro asks for a firmware update. I applied this; video appears a little sharper.
