Slingbox/Sky BB Help Please!

Recently switched to Sky BB - using an airport extreme attached to the Sky BB modem as a bridge for all my bits and bobs. All works ok, except for the slingbox, which cannot connect. As the Extreme is acting as a bridge, there is no 'port forwarding' option (but this was on when previously set up using Pipex, with the extreme as a normal router). I have switched port forwarding on 5001 on, on the Sky router (Sagem) settings, but to no avail - I get a 'can't connect' error. Can anyone help please? Away on Saturday and need it for the next week or two. Many thanks. Stan

Feature idea: IR Pass-thru or iPhone remote app

It occurred to me that my MacBook Pro and most macs have an Infrared port. It would be very nice if the Mac Client could use the port to read inputs from my remote control and pass them through to the sling-box to control the device connected to my slingbox. That way I could use the remote control, instead of the keyboard/mouse. Or, how about a remote-app for my iPhone to control the sling client...kind of like the one for iTunes. Neither would need to be added to the sling client software directly; if an app was written to intercept the inputs (IR or iPhone) and map/pass them through to the client in some way...as rudimentary as passing keystrokes. I wonder if something like this already exists...will have to do a search.

Buffer on Mac

I love how the windows software has the buffer on it. Why can't the MAC software have a buffer on it. At my house the internet is 5mb down, but when i travel sometimes i only pick up 1mb service and i seem to have the digital lockup. My upload speed is plenty fast i was just curious if the slingbox software has a solution, is working on a solution, or just deal with it. thanks everyone Mark

Does it slow down the broadband speed and exceed d/l usage?????

Hi there. I am in Kos (Greek island) and using my MacBook to watch SKY via my brothers slingbox, BT is his ISP. He has just sent me an email saying that he has noticed a dramatic reduction in his connection speed when I am using the slingbox, he kicked me off a few times and immediately was restored to his normal connection speed. Is this correct, is there anything that can be done. As well he has received notice from BT that his download usage is exceeding his levels and that he may either be charged more or worse suspend the service, again is this right? I did a search on here as I imagined these points have been perviously raised but didn't find anything. Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers Nic

SOLVED:::How do I load a custom IR bin file on mac?

Hi all, sorry but I am trying to use the slingbox with my satelite box and have a bin file for custom remote control on slingplayer. In the windows version 1.50, I can go into, the SBAV folder in the SlingPlayer program directory, then drop in by custom .bin file and I can see it when I go into the remote control -> other field. However on mac when I goto SlingPlayer->Resources, I can't seem to find an analogous directory to put my file in... Does anybody know how I can do this on my mac? Regards, Rumi

Removing prompt to upgrade firmware with Mac client

Does anyone know how to install the mac client such that it will not prompt you with the requirement that you "must upgrade the firmware" to continuing using the slingplayer software? That is happening when my son tries to connect with my Solo using his macbook and the 1.6 software. It doesn't happen with me and my use of the 1.5 windows client, because I deleted all the .bin files on my Windows machines. I really like my Solo as it is, and don't want to upgrade the firmware. My speeds are great on LAN and via the internet. I "answered the call" to upgrade my firmware on my 4 year old classic and 2 replacement classics, and I could never get them to work. Never again if I can help it.
