Sling Media Updates Symbian S60 SlingPlayer, Adds Support for New Devices

<img align="right" hspace="10" src="http://www.slingcommunity.com/imagelib/contentitem/39405/f0f219158e118e83--5b0d235a-12502d7c384-4ff1518484456.jpg">S60 owners should take notice. Sling Media's been hard at work on a new build of SlingPlayer Mobile for Symbian S60 , which, along with the typical helping of minor fixes and patches, adds support for new handsets like the popular Nokia E71, E71x, and brand new E72. Furthermore, Sling also says they expect this build to play nicely with all 3rd edition Symbian S60 devices, even if they're not on the officially supported list. All 3rd edition users are encouraged to download the 30-day trial to see if it works on their handset. Officially supported list: Nokia N96 Nokia N95 8GB Nokia N95 Nokia N85 Nokia N82 Nokia N79 Nokia N75 Nokia N73 Nokia E75 Nokia E72 Nokia E71x Nokia E71 Nokia E65 Nokia E63 Nokia E52 Nokia 6790 Surge Nokia 6120 5th edition devices won't have any luck with this build, but Sling says they're hard at work on that front, but no specific time frame has been given. Download SlingPlayer Mobile for Symbian S60 , and post below if your Symbian S60 handset is now up and running.

I was so excited that Slingplayer Mobile for Symbian finally works on the E71. I can connect using my 3G, which is great, but I can't connect using my home network. It works fine connecting with my computer, but not my phone. I have a 2Wire 2701HG-B gateway router, and tried the setup assistant in Slingplayer several times, but when I try to play using my wifi connection it says &quot;Unable to connect to Slingbox; connection timed out. Please try again later.&quot; Can anyone help? Thanks

slingplayer for symbian refuse to connect after slingbox pro firmware upgrade (1.03.80)

Just updated my Slingbox Pro to the newest firmware and now my Nokia N95 slingmobile can't connect to the box. I tried connecting thru 3G and Wifi and both are not able to connect to the box. I am able to connect to the box thru slingplayer for desktop pc. So people stay away from the new firmware. Slingplayer won't allow me to downgrade to older firmware.

Does anyone know whether Slingplayer Mobile is compatible with Nokia N86 ?

The list of phone models in the mobile phone compatibility section of the slingmedia support web-page is very limited, some of the phone model listed may even have been taken off the shelf for sale! We have no choice but to purchase phone models currently in the market. It is unfortunate for the technical team of Slingmedia that the phone models turn over so quickly. Although Slingmedia suggest the customers to download a trial version before purchasing the slingplayer mobile software, this is not very helpful. We need to know the slingplayer mobile compatibility BEFORE buying a new mobile phone. Even if we visit the mobile phone shop, the phone shop often only display a dummy model, or the display phone is not connected to a 3G mobile network, and even if it is connected, the phone shop won't allow you to install the slingplayer mobile software. I hope the slingmedia technical team can up-date the mobile phone compatibility information in the web-site faster. Tips: The mobile carrier 3 in Hong Kong has a compatibility chart that lists more compatible phones in their web-page (in English!), but some of the phones it does not tick may still be comaptible, e.g....
