supported video switch for security-camera hook-up?

Hi, I have 4 security cameras connected to a video switch (StarTech.com SVID410IR) and the switchbox connected via composite to the sling box Pro-Hd. Evreything works fine, except I'm not successful remote controlling the switchbox from my computer. I have the IR-cabe attached pointing at the IR-sensor. Unfortunately the switcher I'm using (StarTech.com SVID410IR) does not come up as "supported device" - does anybody know alternative codes for the unit? Does anybody know/use an alternative "supported" 4 Port Video Switch with Remote (or simular) that works ? Thank you!

Slingbox Tuner / Cameras Through a Modulator = no picture?

I'm hoping someone can help me out here. I have 3 cameras that go through a modulator that allow the cameras to be viewed on all the TV's in my house on channels 16,18 and 20. I plugged the cable into my Slingbox Tuner and then the output of the Tuner to the TV. I can see it on the TV still great. The problem I'm having is that I can't get anything to show up on the Slingbox at all. When I scan through channels I see nothing as well as when I manually enter in the channel I see nothing. Since I don't get cable I don't know if Slinbox would discover anything at all. The channel listing is blank. Any ideas? Thanks Josh

What video camera can I use with the HD Input?

I have a Slingbox Pro with the following devices in use: 1.) Comcast Cable TV; 2.) Radio Shack Surveillance camera; and a 3.) Mace 75CIR Surveillance Camera I now want to add a 3rd surveillance camera. The only input remaining is the HD input. I purchased the HD cable connector for this purpose. I then tested it out by using each of my other two cameras (the Radio Shack camera and the Mace camera). The radio Shack camera picture was awful and barely visible and the Mace camera picture was only appeared in black and white. Both of these cameras work great when using the other inputs but don't work when using the HD input even though I am using the HD cable connector that is required. Do I need to buy a special HD camera in order for it to work with the HD input? I've been checking out HD video surveillance camers having 1080i capability but the prices start at around +/- $1,500 and go up from there. My other cameras cost me about $150-$300 which is what I was expecting to have to spend. Can anyone tell me which cameras I can buy that will work with...

how to live broadcast

Hello forumers, I am new to this business and need to find out from A to Z, what I need to broadcast high quality video from my professional cammera (canon HD). I know services like blinkotv.com or mogulus.com but I want to find out whether I can do without them, and how good I can do if I tend to broad cast only for my local viewers. So what I need, from hardware to software? thanks

Live Broadcasts

I would like to do live broadcasts and then send them to a remote computer and then out through our local access channel. Seems like it should work if my computer had a TV out so I could connect to the cable companies equipment. I will be using a high quality Canon camera and then connecting directly to the slingbox. I just in the planning stage. Anyone have any experience with this or ideas to make it easier? Chris

New Uses for Old Slingboxes: Build a 'Watch Anywhere' Baby Monitor

Some sit on shelves behind a glass door museum-style, but most would be surprised by the sheer number of old devices I've found new uses for. So, when the need arose to put together a nursery for my up-and-coming baby Slinger, I went to work putting a few of my older gadgets back into service. One of our goals was to have the option to monitor the baby visually, and after pricing out some $200+ baby video monitors, I decided to slap something together from several devices I already own that are no longer in use; most notably, the Slingbox Classic. The result is what my wife and I call "The SlingTot," a baby monitor accessible from around the world as well as at home. What You'll Need: A Slingbox A video camera with an A/V output. Night mode is required if you're planning on using it at night. Network accessibility or a Wireless internet solution Optional (but recommended) is at least one smartphone or PDA with SlingPlayer Mobile. Set up time:...
