SlingPlayer Version 2.0.0.465

Since I installed this SlingPlayer 2.0.0.465 version, my streaming got real worse. Let me explain, whenever I start watching fast few minutes picture quality is absolutely wonderful. But, in 5 to 10 minutes the streaming bit will drop from over 1200kbps to almost 112kbps. Picture quality will become miserable to watch. Kbps rate will keep fluctuating all over the range, never consistent. If lucky, only consistent rate is at 112kpbs, still very choppy audio/picture. I never had this problem with previous version. I understand there are few good features with this new one. But, what good does it make if I can't watch it all. Please help me here. If necessary, I want to go back to previous version. It is worth to mention that, I have no problem of inconsistency with all other Video streaming sites such as, JumpTv dot com, hulu dot com etc. I can watch those sites hours without a single drop of bits.

Check out this article. http://support.slingmedia.com/get/KB-005744 I just thought that ones that have this problem may find this article very interesting specially that I have seem that some people encounter the same situation with the SlingPlayer or SlingCatcher. Perhaps if we create a Thread and gather all different scenarios here. We may help SlingMedia and the ones with the problem to fix the proble.

iPhone Remote Control

I know that the full fledged Sling Player for iPhone is in the works, but how about just the Remote Control aspect of it. I would get a ot of use out of just being able to use my iPhone to control my TV from different rooms in my house. I would pay 3-5 bucks for an iPhone app like that.

Sling Media Re: Firmware Release Notes

Sling Media; Why is it, firmware updates are not accompanied with firmware release notes? I think it is only fair, we be warned when new firmware is to be released and notes saying what fixes were done and features added. You like our feedback on problems. We would like your feedback, on what you think has been fixed. I see this is being done, somewhat, with Slingcatcher. Whats wrong with the rest of the devices family?

<img align="right" hspace="10" src="http://www.slingcommunity.com/imagelib/contentitem/31349/f0f219158e118e83-547e78e8-11d78f713b3--5345-728908200.jpg">Our first maintenance release of SlingCatcher firmware is now available. THANK YOU again for all the forum posts. We'll continue to release small, frequent updates based on your continued feedback. Q. How will I be notified of the upgrade? A. New owners will automatically download the latest during installation. Current owners will get notified on the SlingCatcher home screen at a random time between launch (now) and 2 days from launch. This staggered notification approach will help ensure a quick download time for all customers. The home screen is accessed by pressing the Sling logo (&ldquo;slinky&rdquo;) on the Catcher&rsquo;s remote control. Q. Do I have to wait to be notified? A. No. You can download the latest release now, even if you don't yet see the notification. Q. How do I force the upgrade? A. Make sure your TV is set to the SlingCatcher input. Using the Catcher remote control, navigate as follows: Logo (&ldquo;slinky&rdquo;) button &gt; Settings &gt; Software Update &gt; Check for updates &gt; Yes Q. What&rsquo;s new and fixed? A. See the &quot;Update Available&quot; notes at: http://support.slingmedia.com/go/slingcatcher Q. What if my issue isn&rsquo;t on the list? A. Our plan is to release smaller, more frequent updates, so...

Hi, I have had some problems with 1.5 software and tried to download 2.0. Things appear to be downloading fine until I get a message that says, &quot;Error 1719. Windows Installer server could not be accessed.&quot; Is anyone familiar with this error and how to fix it so I can download the software. Thanks so much.

Vista Network Tuning Driver

Silcondust has a product called HDHomerun. It has two ATSC/ClearQAM tuners in it and when plugged into a Cable network or an Over The Air (OTA) antenna, it will stream unencrypted digital television. The two things it doesn't do is decode analog or encrypted signals. That basicly leaves the user to the 7 broadcast networks (NBC, ABC, CBS, FOX, CW, MYnetwork and PBS) for viewing. The intent of this box is not the same as the Sling Media's model of streaming over the internet, but rather you can place this device anywhere in the home that receives the signal and has a network connection. Pluging the box into each, your computer can pick up the signal as if it were a tuner card in your PC. The increased value is, any and all PCs in your home can take advantage of this tuner, just no more than two at a time. The method Silcondust uses to deliver content to the display is by installing a small app that is always running in the system tray. This app emulates a video capture hardware device that is recognized by Vista or XP. After installed, and properly configured, the user runs through the...
