Connections with structured wiring

I'd like to watch TV while at my computer and I bought the Solo. My house has wiring for ethernet, cable, phone etc. at 4 different points with the main hub in the basement. Right now my computer is connected to the router which is also wireless for around the house. The TV I want to connect to the Solo, in theory, has ethernet going to the hub "backwards" which has another ethernet cable to the computer. Perhaps I need to patch the cable going to the hub (from the TV) directly? to I'm not sure what? - Thanks!

WRT350N or DIR-655

I just got a Slingbox Pro HD and have it currently working with my Linksys WRT54G. I want to upgrade to a draft N router and after searching through the forum, it appears that the only way to get one of my two choices to work is to set it up manually. Since the posts weren't fairly recent and they have new software out, I figured I'd ask. From just router reviews, it appears the D-Link has less problems and has faster throughput. But which one is easier to set up with the Slignbox: Linksys WRT350N or D-Link DIR-655? Thanks, Jeff

My network setup is netgear router nr 1 (slingbox connected here) <---> netgear router nr2 <---> my pc there are no ethernet ports available in the nr 2 router is there a way to make the slingbox work connection through router nr 2 and acces the slingbox on the lan in router nr 1 , or does it have to be on the same lan? if it has to be on the same lan, is there then a way to make the second router act as just a switch or hub?

Setting up Sling box Solo on a Wireless Network - Mac

Apologies if this has been discussed 1,000 times but this is driving me nuts. I got my Solo working on my home network but when I tried to set it up for Remote viewing (outside my network) it failed. I've read there are limitations with the Airport Express: My wireless network consists of 2 airport express. The home base connects the ethernet to my Phone / Computer Modem provided by Cablevision. I have a second Airport Express device which acts as a bridge to the base (it works because I use itunes on it all the time). I've connected the ethernet on the bridge to my Solo. I can view the Sling on the home network but I can't figure out how to modify the IP address for my network to allow the proper upload. All the articles discuss modifying the Router. . . I'm not sure if the Airport Express qualifies as a router. Do I need to buy more equipment? Possible the Airport Extreme base? HELP. . . PLEASE. . . thx Mark

Linksys WRT610N Remote Viewing Issues

After having to replace my Slingbox Pro due to the much talked about firmware issue, my RMA'd unit is working fine on my intranet. I cannot, however, get remote viewing working and assume it is my router setup. Has anybody setup at WRT610N wireless-n router for remote viewing? So far, I have: 1) Correctly setup port forwarding (on both 5001 and then tried 1720 due to other recommendations here). 2) I set up DHCP Reservations for the IP address 3) Turned off SPI Firewall Protection on security and ensured all else is off except Filter IDENT. 4) Upnp is enabled Not sure what else to do. My PCs, PS3, Wii and DirecTV box all connect without any issues. Ideas? Thanks in advance. Gary

Orange Livebox Problems

Hi, For the past 6 months i've been trying unsuccesfully trying to get connected to my Slingbox in the UK when i'm in France. It works for a day or so then has to be reset back home in the UK. There is a Livebox connection in both France and the UK. Nothing I do or am advised to do by Sling seems to do the trick. I'm now at my wits end, anybody any ideas? N U

Port forwarding question

My family is having trouble connecting to a Slingbox Solo from outside my home network. We have a Slingbox AV hooked up and have had no trouble reaching it from outside the network. When I set it up in 2006, I forwarded ports 5001, 5024 and 5121 to the Slingbox AV. We recently bought a Slingbox Solo. It works fine over the home network, but we can't reach it from outside the home LAN. Following the only instructions I have on hand, I have port 5002 forwarded to the Solo. Our internet service is via a Comcast cablemodem. The router in question is a Netgear WGR614v4. There are a couple of Netgear switches between the router and the Solo. Any debugging suggestions or pointers to guides for multiple Slingboxen on a home net? Thanks for your attention.

Linksys WRT54G as wireless bridge problem

I just purchased a Slingbox Solo the other day and am having difficulties setting up the 'Remote Viewing' connection. My main router is the D-Link DIR-655 which I have in my basement connected to a cable modem. I configured my old router, the Linksys WRT54G, as a wireless bridge connected to the Solo. When connecting my laptop to the WRT54G I am able to access the internet and I can view my Slingbox. However, when I am not wired directly to the WRT54G I cannot locate the Slingbox in my network. From reading up on posts relating to this subject in the forums, I have gathered that it is a port forwarding issue with my D-Link router. When I was troubleshooting the setup previously I followed the instructions on the slingbox website regarding port forwarding setup with the D-Link router. It didn't work. I then set up the port forwarding via their setup tutorial for the WRT54G and left the D-Link port forwarding on; nothing. This is where I am getting confused and not sure how exactly to set it up. Do I need to set up port forwarding on BOTH devices or just the D-Link? I have attempted this...
