Interested in Slingbox, absolute confusion, please help!

I am interesting in purchasing a slingbox relatively soon, but I have no clue what to purchase or how to set it up. For starters, I want to be able to have a slingbox network within my household for the office computer downstairs, my laptop upstairs, my TV upstairs (same room as laptop), and the TV in the living room. Our router is located in the office downstairs. I connect to the router wirelessly for my laptop. We also have a digital cable service with Time Warner. (There is a digital cable box in my bedroom upstairs, as well as in the living room.) Basically, how do I get around doing this? What do I need to purchase, and how would I set it up? When multiple devices are connected to the network, do they all have to view the same exact channel? Suggestions will be appreciated, thanks.

Power and Network Light On but No Connection

Hello, I just got the Slingbox SB200-100. I got home hooked everything up and everything seemed to work properly. Both lights are red but on. When I pooped the CD and downloaded the Slingplayer from the website and try to look for the box it is saying there is no box on the network. I do have the Slingbox plugged into my Linksys SD2008 which is plug and play. This is then in turn plugged into my Linksys RVS4000. All firewalls/anti virus are diabled on my computer I have held the reset but for 30 seconds and a uninstalled and reinstalled the Slingplayer Can anyone please help?

Sling Media, fix your boxes Re: Subnets

I've wonded why someone on another subnet could not connect to a slingbox on a different subnet. I installed a packet analizer on a hub with the Slingbox and this is what I see; 192.168.0.26 = Computer on other subnet 192.168.1.236 = Static IP of Slingbox 192.168.0.26 sends ping request to 192.168.1.236 192.168.1.236 sends an ARP Broadcast message looking for "who has 192.168.0.26" This goes on, over and over. Maybe my networking theory is screwed up but an ARP Broadcast can/should only be sent to machines on the same subnet. The Slingbox has the correct netmask of 255.255.255.0. The only way, I can see this working is if a bridge was used between the subnets but we use routing (routing is the "normal" method to cut down on traffic between subnets). The typical reply to an ARP Broadcast message is for the device to give it's HW address but that is useless information when you get above the data-link layer. Am I screwed up or does Sling Media need to go back to school?

Sling Server

Is there anyway of checking the status of the sling server or servers. I tried to connect to my slingbox via mobile internet connection but got an usual error although i could get on the net. So i thought it might be a speed issue. So I tried my wireless connection at home and connected without any problem. After a lot of head scratching i thought it might be a server issue at sling central. So is there a way of checking the status?

No Video remotely

Hi, I have a slingbox Solo, connected to a TIVO Series 2 DVR. It works fine within the network at home. At one remote location, I can't connect to it, it always comes up with an error message that there was a problem connecting to the slngbox. This is on a pc. At another remote location, I can connect and there is video, but no remote control. The show remote control under view is grey out. I've tried different ports and am currently using 443 and I just checked at home with canyouseeme.org and the port is being forwarded. Does anyone have any tips on how to resolve these problems? Thanks for your help Eric

Slingbox slows after 5 minutes

I have read other posts about this issue but no solution. I have a slingbox pro that has worked great for the last year and a half, both local and remote. I use a Linksys WRT54G router, attached wirelessly and wired. I also use slingplayer mobile on my AT&T Tilt, either using 3G or wifi. I just replaced the router with a Linksys WRT160N and now I have the slowdown problem. I have only tried it local but it happens using either wireless (built in G on either an IBM or Dell laptop) and when I am directly attached by ethernet cable. I get great speed (3000 - 6500) for a few minutes and then it slows down to 150 to 180. The video stops and the sound continues. After a couple of minutes it goes back up and resumes working correctly. One post recommended opening up all ports, this didn't make a difference. I tried changing several settings in the router but it didn't help. Any suggestions? I don't want to go back to the G router as I like the N speed for other applications. Thanks.

Slinbox nowhere near wireless router? Help!

Sorry for the crosspost - I posted this in hardware instead of straight networking: I just got Satellite with Bell in Canada, and bundled it with internet so I have DSL. Problem is my wireless router is now on the other side of the room from my tv/satellie reciever, hooked up to my phone jack. What would be the best way to be able to hook up my slingbox, so I can now use it with my reciever? Is it possible to hook the slingbox up to some wireless device to connect it to my wireless router? HELP! My slingbox is sitting unused! :) Thanks all!

Speed is very slow when using slinglink turbo to connect both catcher and pro-hd

When I have my slingbox pro-hd plugged into my router (long wire for testing) I can connect via my laptop or my slingcatcher at a good speed 3000+ mbps. When I connect my slingbox pro-hd to a slinglink turbo unit (my preferred connection method), i can still connect to it with my laptop at the same speed but if try to use the slingcatcher attached to a slinglink turbo I can only connect at speeds maxing out at 800 mbps which provides very poor performance. Has anyone else gotten multiple slinglink turbo units to connect at a good speed? Would i be better off getting a wireless bridge to attach to my catcher than using the slinglink turbo in this instance?
