EDITING OUT COMMERCIALS EASILY?

Greetings, For editing commericals out of MPEG streams, I use VideoReDo Plus. It is unmatched in its ease of use and functionality. You open up the MPEG video stream you wish to edit, set it for automatic detection of commercials, it takes about 2 minutes to scan through the entire video stream and it puts a mark everytime there is a fade to black (commercial), you visually look and verify that they are indeed commercial breaks and select them for trimming out, once you've selected all of the areas you want cut out, you re-mux the file and it does it without losing any quality and without encoding of any kind. It finishes in about 3 minutes and you have a really nice MPEG stream that is completely commercial free! Unfortunately, VideoReDo Plus only works with MPEG streams at the moment. I use At-Large Recorder 2, to record my Slingbox feed. At Large Recorder 2 doesn't capture in MPEG format, it captures in WMV format. Too, bad! So now I need a program that works exactly like VideoReDo Plus, except being able to do it with WMV format. I want automatic commercial detection, easy cutting and re-joining ability without encoding...

Does anyone here have an experience in using an American HDTV in a country that utilizes PAL, but with an HD set top box. Will that work? You can get in the U.S. a multisystem TV in some dedicated stores, but there are usually inferior models to U.S. models and more expensive. I know that sling does the conversion by itself, and once the catcher is out, I can plug the local setop box to sling and the local American TV to slingcatcher; however, I am looking for an eaiser solution. Any input would be appreciated.

According to him, Ironman is must-see film... three and a half stars! I never would have Robert Downey Jr. would be a good superhero. What are your thoughts on this film? Is this guy crazy or does Gwyneth Paltrow distract people from the actual movie?

I've recently purchased a Slingbox and (at certain times of day), if I'm lucky, my upstream bandwidth allows me to stream my PVR at 640x480. I'm using the At Large 2 recorder demo to try recording at these times of day but the quality is much worse than watching via Slingbox. I have set the bitrate, resolution and fps etc. to the same as my Slingplayer settings. However, the picture on recordings is noticably more pixellated. Is this typical, or is there anything I can do? Thanks for your help.

Quality of Slingbox signal from USA to Israel using cell phone for connectivity??

Hi all, I will be going to Israel in about three weeks and plan to set up my Slingbox so I can watch the Stanley Cup Playoffs. There are two options for me. 1 - Pay Internet access fees at the motels at night 2 - Use a Blackberry 8300 from Verizon. With this I have access all the time, virtually everywhere in the country and no additional bandwidth or roaming charges! My concern is whether or not the GPRS connectivity will be good enough for getting a Sling signal, let alone a fast enough signal to watch a fast action hockey game. Has anyone here used a cell phone for Sling connectivity in Israel (or Jordan for that matter)? If so, what was the quality of the signal? I've been able to watch games at 300-400 kbps while here in the US, but that's a small hop on the Internet, not halfway around the World! Thoughts?? Robert

Hi, I recently moved to the UK and have a slingbox connected to parents' cable and dvr boxes in the US. I have previously accessed the slingbox from the US and was able to stream at speeds of 800-900 kbps. Now I'm in the UK and only have 4 mb download speeds (Virgin Media). At times this will stream at 500-600 kbps, but usually it is in the 300-400 range. it will play okay for a few minutes, then it plummets to 114 and sits at that for a while. Of course the result is very choppy video. Thoughts on how to get this working better? We already upgraded from 2 mb to 4 mb and although at times the streaming improves, it still is very spotty. Thanks!

Hi, I’m thinking about getting Slingbox Pro, I’ve heard good things about it but have few questions, I hope you can help me out. 1. Can Slingbox Pro stream TV to TV, and not to my PC? I searched the forum and found that Slingcatcher does this but it comes out later this year 2008, is there a way to do this now? Do I need to purchase both Slingbox Pro and Slingcatcher if I want to make TV to TV streming work? 2. If Slingbox Pro is set in the original location ([location that uploads the TV image), can that user and the remote location user (place that receives the TV image) watch different channels at the same time? Meaning, can 2 users both remote and original location be watching 2 different channels at the same time without any interruption? 3. Similar to question #2, can the remote located user control the original location user’s DVD or other AV connected devices at the same time the original location user is just watching TV? Thanks and I’m looking forward to Slinggin

I talked to a representative today here at CES regarding their "recording" feature in the upcoming SlingPlayer 2.0 called Clip & Sling . Turns out Sling has had to reach content redistribution deals with EVERY TV content owner on the planet for this feature. Each content owner must explicitly give Sling permission to record, and then sets the time limit - some may allow 15 seconds, some four minutes, etc. No agreement: no recording. This is an INSANE amount of work for a feature with dubious value to customers. From our perspective as the publishers of At-Large Recorder, it's great news, as SlingPlayer 2.0 will NOT have any significant recording options.

Saw this news article. Tickets To Giants-Patriots Game Sell For Thousands While the New England Patriots look to cash in on their chance to become the first NFL team to ever have a perfect 16-0 season when they take on the New York Giants at the Meadowlands on Saturday, many of the Giants' faithful are looking to cash in on anxious Pats fans hoping to catch history live. Season ticket holders who'd rather skip out on the mostly meaningless game for the Giants have put their hard-to-get tickets up for sale on Web sites like StubHub, eBay, and Craigslist. Some are getting a little carried away. Tickets to see the potential milestone are selling for as much as $1,600 a piece on StubHub, and up to $2,500 on eBay. Yes, $2,500 for a non-playoff game that will be aired on three different networks, a new NFL milestone in and of itself. You could sit home and switch between CBS, NBC, and the NFL network and make your own history -- it's the first three-network simulcast of an NFL game ever -- for free. Me, I'll be watching from home!

Some have suggested that one way to record SlingPlayer is by using a screen recorder. Here is a link to one of the tools that has been mentioned: Camtasia . http://www.thefreebiesblog.com/2007/11/22/camtasia-studio-313-free/ Originally offered to the subscribers of a specific magazine, those offering the software have agreed to honor any request that may come in. When I last tried the screen recording approach, I was disappointed, but it may do what some need. It does not come with my recommendation - just a pointer to the software. Floyd

Hello folks, I'm viewing a slingbox remotely downloading at 470 kbps. The picture is borderline watchable for sporting events. I have NO control over the upload speed, though if I remember correctly from the installation it was the second fastest package the cable provider offered. So, my question is, Is there anything I can do to improve the picture? Any settings I can change? Is it worth it to upgrade my connection on this (the download) end? Thanks, jaypee btw-I've got all the latest firmwares installed for modems/routers/SB and the newest version of the software for the player.
