Freezing - SB causing LANDATTACK?

Hello people first post on here and unfortunately a problem! I have the following; SB Pro Belkin F5D8631-4 router Slinging SKY HD. Like others I can sling all day on my LAN, from outside I get some success but always ends up freezing. I have a problem logged with both Belkin and Sling media but am not getting answers (well none that work!) I have tried different PC’s and routers from the remote end and same problem so I think the problem lies with the slingbox or home router. Today I checked my router security log and found some attacks, the IP address in question is always the remote router and the timestamp is usually just before the freeze. So I believe the router is eventually blocking the remote SB player, unfortunately I don’t understand enough about this and Belkin are still at the reset the router level of help! Any ideas or experiences with this?

Hi guys, I'm having a major issue with remote viewing. I have a MacBook Pro and PC connected to an Airport Extreme, the Mac wirelessly and the PC direct to the Airport. Tech support says my remote viewing is working correctly on my Mac (they have tested from India or wherever) but I cannot get remote viewing to work, either by connecting with the Slingbox ID, or connecting directly (advanced) with an IP address. The only thing tech support says is that my firewall or ISP is causing problems. I have Comcast, and I have my firewall turned off. Someone on tech support also said Port 5678 might be blocked, but I honestly don't know what else could be wrong. Anyone had problems similar to this? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Using the same scenario, would I then be able to record one channel, while watching another, again, at the SAME time? A buddy of mine claims that this can be done. Before I splurge and get another Slingbox HD, I'd like to confirm if that's really true!? Your help is highly appreciated!! :)

Hey i'm looking into buying a slingbox pro. My questions are... how much bandwith would it hog? I have a minimal DSL connection and there would be up to 3 people at a time using it. Will that only go crazy on the bandwith from where the slingbox is located or will it also chew up bandwith from the place we're streaming 3 slingbox streams? Also if anyone could let me "test" theirs for an hour or so that would be greatly appreciated. I hook up my laptop to my TV to watch movies and stuff i was planning to do the same with slingbox and i'd like to see the quality. Thanks

SlingBox Pro (UK) limited to 320*240 for Freeview digital TV tuner

Hullo everyone. I've just purchased a Pro for use in the UK, and have finally figured out (and confirmed with Slingmedia Support guys), that the UK Pro limits the output from the internal tuner (for Freeview - UK's DVB-T) to 320*240 and low ( < 1500k ) transmission. Bizarrely, if the internal RF/Coaxial aerial input is switched to the analogue signal, it will happily stream at 640*480 with full speeds (I get 8meg on my wired LAN, 6mbps on wifi). *Exactly* the same setup (i.e. all quality settings in SlingPlayer setup), but reconfigured via Slingplayer to broadcast the FreeView (UK DVBt) channels, and the Slingbox limits the output to 320*240 and ~1500kpbs. I've confirmed this using direct ethernet between computer and Slingbox Pro and other A/B comparisons, and also, on the phone with Sling's European Tech Support guys today. This really threw me, and the only reference to the issue (complaining of 'lower' quality) is this review: http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2007/10/19/review_slingbox_pro/page3.html Irritatingly, as I have no other input devices, I actually bought the Pro as it is the only current model in the UK with an integrated DVB-T tuner, and (so I thought) high-quality LAN output. So, I'm really hoping that someone knows...

I have a slingbox pro hooked up to basic, analog cable service. Everything worked just fine for the past 6 months or so, but recently there will be times I just can't connect to it and I have to power-cycle the slingbox. I've read the thread on "sling box gets slow and then dies" but mine doesn't seem to do that. I get constant speed, everything works fine....I'll go to connect to it again 6 hours later and I can't hit it. The light stays on the slingbox as if someone was connected to it, so it appears the session is hung. Does anybody else see this? If so , is this the dreaded firmware issue? I know I"m on the latest firmware (that comes with the sling 2.0 beta software anyway) Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!

I have 2 Motorola receivers (for FIOS) in the same room...specifically for slingbox. The receivers are not exactly the same (one is a DVR and one is just a standard box) but they came with the same remote. In other words, if I hit the power button on either remote then both devices power on...same for the channel button. This doesn't work well for using the slingbox IR blaster...as I need to control each device seperately when someone is using one of the devices. Can I achieve this with slingbox?

Hi, I have set up my slingbox pro back home in the UK - connecting to Sky Plus. It worked perfectly both at home and from a friend's house in the UK. Now I have returned to Dubai and attempted to Sling, I cannot get it to work... It connects and then streams at 2kbps - ie, way too slow to work. When I set it up in the UK I made sure my router was set to ports 5001 (or whatever it tells you to do!). I called customer support and a very helpful guy (I'm not being sarcastic - I think the customer service system is actually very good), asked me if I was sitting near to the Sling box. Sadly not as I am now back in Dubai! I don't really have anyone who can just pop into the house with a laptop with Slingbox loaded onto it to fix the problem for me. I was assured that it was a "known issue" with Dubai users and although not a common problem, there was a proper fix for it. I am really so frustrated because had I known in advance that it didn't really work in Dubai...

My slingbox pro was working fine and then one day I could not access it remotely. For some reason two different computers, a Macintosh and a Dell cannot see the Slingbox Pro on my network. The network light is blinking and I know something is wrong but I have tried just about everything (including testing the ethernet connection and replacing cables) and NOTHING works. In short I have: 1) Replaced my old router with a new one 2) Reset the slingbox 3) unplugged the router unplugged the slingbox and every other "troubleshooting" issue recommended. 4) Tested all ethernet connections and cables. NOTHING works. Is it possible that my slingbox has failed? As I noted, this machine has been working fine for 18 months and one day it just doesn't. The email support/chat line was useless. Can anyone help? Thank you!

I am thinking of setting up a Sling Pro at there place and making them buy the the football package. My question, I have a 60inch plasma TV hooked up to an HTPC capable of playing X264 1080P files without and hesitation or stutter. How bad will the resultion be on a TV of this size and ulitimatly is it even worth it to buy it for this single reason or will i just be dissppointed by the quality and end up never using this. Will the ultimate quality end up being that of 480P or will it be even worse than that.
Hello. This is my first post here so I hope I am making it in the right place. I am considering the purchase of either a PRO or a SOLO unit. Primary I would like to set up my TiVo Series 3 with it (so a SOLO would prob be good enough) but hooking up my AppleTV would also be a "nice to have" addition, but not a must. Both of my units connect to my TV via HDMI cables. My question is: Does the box have to go BETWEEN these units and the TV? In other words, do I have to do video/audio into the Slingbox and then out to my TV or can I leave both the TiVo and AppleTV connected to my TV via HDMI and use their other out ports to hook into the Slingbox? I don't know if the other ports are disabled after using an HDMI cable. I guess I'm a bit confused on how to do the set up if the Slingbox has to go between both devices. It's obvious hot to do this with the SOLO, but the PRO only has 1 HD in (if I purchase that extra dongle) and I...
